The auger is operably coupled to the fourth bar. The four bar linkage is configured to convert a rotational motion of the second bar to a vertical motion of the auger. A vehicle to which the auger implement is coupled is configured to remain stationary while a hole is bored using the vertical motion of the auger.

The arcuate portion extends from the bagging passage to the bag such that the air and debris from the bagging passage travels along the arcuate portion and thereafter apply a dislodging force to dislodge debris collected at the inner face of the bag.

The bagging portion has a hood, a primary bag removably positioned lowerly adjacent the hood, a dust skirt configured to wrap around the primary bag, and a bagging passage for directing air and debris to the hood from the input portion. The hood has a helical configuration extending from the bagging passage toward the primary bag. At least an inner face of the dust skirt is electrically charged. A frame having at least one wheel facilitates transportation.

The implement includes an adjustable base, a central articulating section having a double 4-bar linkage connected to the adjustable base and providing a range of movement, and an auger support and control section connected to the central articulating section and providing an operator handle for guiding the bit. The double 4-bar linkage includes central, base, and distal links and four bars each having a fixed length and being connected to the central link. The first and second bars are parallel to one another at all times, and the third and fourth bars are parallel to one another at all times. The base link is unable to tilt relative to the distal link, such that the auger maintains an angular orientation. Adjustment of the adjustable base affects the angular orientation of the auger.

One hood is provided for use with a mobile debris-collecting apparatus that has an input portion, a draft inducer, and a bag. The hood has an inlet for receiving air and debris drawn through the input portion by the draft inducer, and the hood includes a helical passage extending downwardly from the inlet at least two hundred and seventy degrees about an imaginary vertical axis to direct the air and debris from the inlet to the bag in a helical direction. An opening may be formed inside the helical passage, and the hood may include a filter removably positioned to restrict the debris from exiting through the opening. The filter may extend downwardly inside the helical passage and/or the bag, whereby further causing helical movement of the debris by providing an inner boundary around which the debris must pass.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a turf aerator includes a frame having wheels, a variable displacement pump, an engine for driving at least one of the wheels and driving the pump, a tine assembly supported by the frame and being movable between lowered and raised configurations, and a swash-plate-adjustment linkage extending from the tine assembly to the pump. The tine assembly includes: a base; a hydraulic motor in hydraulic communication with the pump; rotatable cranks powered by the hydraulic motor; a downwardly-extending arm rotatably coupled to each crank; a tine extending downwardly from each downwardly-extending arm; springs operatively anchored to the base; and a guide arm extending between each downwardly-extending arm and a respective spring. The swash-plate-adjustment linkage automatically adjusts the pump with movement of the tine assembly relative to the frame to provide output to the hydraulic motor substantially only when the tine assembly is at the lowered configuration.
