Abstract: An electromechanical abutment stop intended particularly for folding machines comprises of a coil (4) and a magnet (2) which are resiliently movable relative to each other. Disposed between coil (4) and magnet (2) is a damper plate (9) of softly resilient material as defined. The abutment sensor is characterized by low overall height. In a preferred embodiment, at least one surface of the damper plate (9) is occupied by projections (10), the shape of which can be used to determine the signal:mechanical pulse characteristic within wide limits, particularly so that the rise in the magnitude of signal will become ever smaller as the mechanical pulse becomes greater. By limiting the free length of travel .DELTA.x coil 4 or magnet 2), it is possible to confine the signal within an upper limit or threshold.
Abstract: In order to adjust desired web lengths between perforations, a perforating cutter (6) is used which consists of two mutually rotatable cutter discs (10 and 11) which can be fixed in the adjusted positions relative to each other. One cutter disc (11) has thereby a flat radial cutting surface (12) which constitutes the base of a flat truncated cone, the lateral face (16) of which corresponds to the inner lateral face (15) of a pot-shaped cutter disc (10), of which the outer lateral face (14) forms, together with the cutting face (12), a cutting edge (19) at which also terminate the lateral face (16) of one cutter disc (11) and the inner lateral face (15) of the other cutter disc (10). Provided in the cutting edge (15) and around the periphery are regularly equidistant cut-outs (24), of which the length and thus the length of the webs between the perforations can be adjusted by rotation of the cutter discs (10 and 11 ) in relation to each other.
Abstract: In order to cut through one or several sheets located wholly or partially on top of one another and guided, held by two transport conveyors, through a cutting zone in which a rotating cutting knife is arranged, of which the cutting edge is coordinated with the edge of one face of a cutting roller on the circumferential surface of which one transport conveyor is guided, with firm pressure and in order to achieve a precise cut, a pressure roller is provided, coordinated with the second transport conveyor and pressing it against the first transport conveyor, in the circumferential surface of which pressure roller an indentation has been made to accommodate the second transport conveyor and which extends axially, without contact, to the cutting plane of the cutting knife.
Abstract: A guide block (11) has a groove (16) with a flat floor cut into it, in which an endless belt (15) containing perforations (17) travels. A suction opening (18) opens into the floor of the groove (16), to which a vacuum is periodically applied by means of a valve (12). The endless belt (15) travels over a stack (1) of sheets (2) by means of guide rollers (4,5) and a drive roller (3). The vacuum, when periodically applied by the valve (12), operates through the perforations (17) so that the topmost sheet (2) of the stack (1) is sucked against the endless belt (15) and carried away in the same direction (28). One preferred form of the endless belt (15) is a toothed belt, with spaces between the teeth (21) that form vacuum chambers (22). With this compact and therefore easily positionable device, sheets (2) are sucked up from a stack (1) and transported away while maintaining their orientation, meaning that very high production rates are attained.
Abstract: For simple and rapid tightening of one or more presser belts of a continuous sheet feeder two support-levers are connected to a swivelling shaft next to the feeder frame, at the free ends of which the tension roller is pivoted. Furthermore, a tension lever is connected to the swivelling shaft. A holding member is slidably mounted on the swivelling shaft and can be fixed in any set position. One end of a spring engages the holding member and the other end is pivoted on the feeder.
Abstract: A folding machine comprises at least one folding unit including a plurality of conveyor belts (12), a stop member (14) extending transversely of the conveyor belts, a plurality of folding rolls disposed below the conveyor belts and extending parallel thereto, a folding blade adapted to be moved within a gap defined by the folding rolls, and a detector device (light barrier 16). The folding machine is characterized by a length-of-path pulse generator (22) coupled to the conveyor belts (12), a presettable counter (24) coupled to the length-of-path pulse generator (22), the start input (26) of said counter being connected to the detector device (16) and the distance between the detector device (16) and the stop member (14) at least equalling the length of the longest sheet to be handled, and a logic circuit (30, 36, 38) adapted to start the folding blade driving means (21) only upon the counter (24) reaching a predetermined count and upon the terminal edge of a sheet having passed the light barrier.
