Abstract: A pit and an extension, each having flanges extending perpendicular to an axis of the pit and extension. The pit includes holes extending outwardly in the wall of the pit, preferably these holes are located at one end of the pit. Surfaces of the flanges are configured to mate together and clips secure the flanges together to inhibit movement apart of the pit and extension along the axis. In certain embodiments, the extension includes support ribs which may be both interior and exterior and the extension narrows from its flange towards an opposite end thereof.

Abstract: A pit defining an opening and having a footing. Cutouts are located in the footing and are created in mold to avoid secondary cutting operations. The wall of the pit above the footing is narrower than the footing and includes ribs extending from the wall for added compressive resistance. The ribs may vary in size both in length and extension into the center of the pit.
Abstract: A valve cover assembly and support member having opposed slots extending downwardly from the upper end thereof and extending into the lower end of a conventional valve cover to lock the valve against rotation and hold the valve in an upright position.
Abstract: A valve cover for covering a buried valve and permitting access thereto with a two piece, rigid plastic housing having a square cross section which resists rotation in the ground. The housing is capped with a cast iron collar which fits inside the top end of the housing and has apertures in the portions engaging the housing walls through which the plastic extends to lock the collar to the housing. Adjacent the lower end of the housing are opposing apertures in the housing walls through which the pipes extend from the valve. A plurality of fingers extend outward from the housing about each aperture to form a tapering passage which will accommodate different sizes of pipes.
