Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a meter pit frame that is configured to enclose an opening of a meter pit. The meter pit frame includes an outer frame edge, a circular inner wall defining a central opening from which extends a lip for receiving and supporting a cover, and a plurality of ribs disposed entirely on the underside of the meter pit frame and beneath the top surface thereof, the ribs extending between the inner wall and the outer frame edge and configured to enable the meter pit frame to support vertical loading. The meter pit frame is molded from plastic and is configured to enable transmission of data signals therethrough. Expander rings and/or extension components may be employed to enable the meter pit frame to be secured to meter pits having different diameters or lengths.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a lid insert and cover for use with a utility box having any type of instrument, e.g., a leak detection or geo-location instrument, with an antenna for transmitting any type of signals related to the instrument, e.g., a leak detection, geo-location or electrical current or load sensing signal. The insert may include a top plate configured to be mounted in an upper recess of the cover and a bottom plate configured to be mounted in a lower recess of the cover. The bottom plate may define a plurality of openings for fasteners, e.g., screws, bolts or other mechanical mounting mechanisms and/or zip-ties, that are configured for securing the instrument and/or its antenna within the box. When properly mounted therein, the antenna of such instruments can effectively transmit or receive signals into and out of the utility box.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a lid for covering a utility or meter box. The water or utility meter box lid is particularly suitable for having installed thereon multiple different types of latch mechanisms, e.g., worm latches, spring-loaded latches, and the like. The lid includes a top side, a bottom side, and a through-hole extending from the top side to the bottom side into which a selected latch type may be installed. The bottom surface of the lid has a surface for rotatably engaging a latch portion of a latch mechanism, and may also include at least one opening such as a cavity or retainer, that engages an end of a spring, allowing a user to select and install, into a single type of lid, either one of a worm latch or a spring-loaded latch.

The wall of the pit above the footing is narrower than the footing and includes ribs extending from the wall for added compressive resistance. The ribs may vary in size both in length and extension into the center of the pit.

Abstract: A pit and an extension, each having flanges extending perpendicular to an axis of the pit and extension. The pit includes holes extending outwardly in the wall of the pit, preferably these holes are located at one end of the pit. Surfaces of the flanges are configured to mate together and clips secure the flanges together to inhibit movement apart of the pit and extension along the axis. In certain embodiments, the extension includes support ribs which may be both interior and exterior and the extension narrows from its flange towards an opposite end thereof.
