  • Patent number: 5364892
Abstract: A modeling dough comprising gelled poly(vinyl alcohol), water and a filler provides a dough resistant to flaking, cracking, and crumbling. In the disclosed invention, the poly(vinyl alcohol) resin is gelled, thereby providing a water-based resin system that is not sticky yet very ductile. Prior to drying, the dough also exhibits the properties of bounceability and the ability to pick up newsprint. After the dough is air-dried, the poly resin serves to bind the components into a solid, durable product. The filler accounts for a large portion of the volume of the dough, so the overall volume is not greatly affected by water loss upon drying. The dough is water-based and easy to wash from skin, carpets, and other surfaces. Dyes and pigments can be easily incorporated into the formula. The dried product is sandable and paintable.

  • Patent number: 5352282
Abstract: A multiple coloring composition system is disclosed whose coloring effect is changed upon treatment with a second coloring composition, once the second coloring composition has been deposited over the first coloring composition. The multiple ink system comprises:(a) a first aqueous coloring composition comprising a first dye whose coloring ability is destroyed in the presence of a bleach; and(b) a second aqueous coloring composition comprising from about 1% to about 20% by weight of a bleach; and from about 0.1% to about 12% by weight of a colorant capable of maintaining its characteristic color in the presence of a bleach and/or a pH of about 10 or greater. The multiple coloring composition may further comprise a base in an amount sufficient to elevate the pH of the second aqueous coloring composition to a level of from about 10 to about 12.

  • Patent number: 5326388
Abstract: A multiple coloring composition system is disclosed whose coloring effect is changed upon treatment with a second coloring composition, once the second coloring composition has been deposited over the undercolor coloring composition. The multiple ink system comprises:(a) an undercolor aqueous coloring composition comprising an undercolor dye whose coloring ability is destroyed in the presence of a pH of about 10 or greater and/or by a reducing agent; and(b) an overcolor aqueous coloring composition comprising a colorant capable of maintaining its characteristic color in the presence of a pH of about 10 or greater and/or a reducing agent, a base in an amount sufficient to yield a pH of the overcolor composition of about 10 or greater, and/or a reducing agent.

  • Patent number: 5284445
Abstract: This invention relates generally to portable drawing surfaces and more particularly to a base structure with interchangeable components. The invention permits the manufacture of a base structure that can be combined with an accessory unit and a working surface to create either a lighted drawing surface or a drawing surface with a utensil accessory tray. This results in substantial savings in manufacturing costs as tooling requirements are substantially lowered. The lighted drawing surface includes a working surface, a lighting accessory unit and a base structure to provide a backlit surface for tracing and drawing. The portable drawing surface replaces the lighting accessory unit with a utensil accessory unit and thereby provides a drawing surface with a tray for displaying and organizing utensils.

  • Patent number: 5276075
Abstract: An aqueous emulsion of an acrylic polymer having a glass transition temperature between 0.degree. C. and 20.degree. C., glitter, and an associative thickener which does not destabilize the glitter comprising a hydrophobically-modified cellulosic polymer, wherein after the composition is applied onto a substrate and cured, it remains dimensionally stable, flexible, and exhibits a gloss of at least 50 after at least one washing.

  • Patent number: 5262535
Abstract: The reaction product of:(a) a compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X is a member selected from the group consisting of N, O and S; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently a straight or branched, saturated or unsaturated non-aromatic hydrocarbon of four to eighteen carbon atoms; m is 1 or 2; and n is 0, 1 or 2; and(b) a compound selected from the group consisting of primary, secondary, tertiary and higher amines, which are liquid at room temperature. The reaction product of the present invention has excellent surfactant properties, and is suitable for use in coloring compositions to improve the fugitivity from skin and clothing. The reaction product is also useful as a cleansing agent.
