  • Publication number: 20060282004
Abstract: A system and method of central auditory processing testing and evaluation provides for identifying clinically relevant neural synchrony in the auditory brainstem pathway. The system or method finds use as a tool to evaluate auditory processing disorders, and hence, potential auditory system and/or learning disabilities. The system or method may further find use in the selection and fitting of hearing corrective appliances such as hearing aid or cochlear implant devices and/or in the selection and implementation of auditory training regimens.

  • Publication number: 20060277999
Abstract: An audiometer includes a data acquisition/transducer module, a signal processing module and a user interface. A probe is coupled to the data acquisition module. The signal processing module forms an otoacoustic emission stimulus signal for transduction to a patient via the data acquisition/transducer module and the probe and to detect a response to the stimulus. The audiometer operable to correlate the response to a hearing disability corresponding to a hearing loss at one of a plurality of auditory thresholds.

  • Patent number: 7003413
Abstract: Signal processing techniques and systems and, in particular, an apparatus, system, algorithm and method of extraction of sinusoidal signals of time-varying nature is described. The apparatus, system, algorithm and method provide for extraction of a specified single sinusoidal component of an input signal, potentially containing other components and noise, and tracking variations of the amplitude, phase and frequency of such a sinusoid component over time. A “tool” or “core unit,” embodying the apparatus, system, algorithm or method may be used in isolation or as the fundamental building block of single-core or multi-core systems.

  • Patent number: 5602550
Abstract: A method and apparatus for compressing a data vector of a predetermined number of data points. The apparatus includes a memory for storing the compressed data vector, a first comparator for determining a largest and smallest data point of the data vector and a second comparator for comparing the largest and smallest data point and when they are equal, causing a first data point of the data vector to be stored in the memory as the compressed data vector. The apparatus also includes a first processor for determining a data field width necessary to uniquely describe a largest relative magnitude data point and a second processor for storing the data points of the data vector as the compressed vector in data fields of memory of the data field width.

  • Patent number: 4649482
Abstract: An apparatus for monitoring and operating on brain input activity signals to provide topographical maps characteristic of patient brain activity. The apparatus senses the brain input activity signals and processes the signals to provide detailed information on patient brain activity. Complete topographical maps of the patient brain are activity constructed by a line-by-line interpolation method. A color coded scale adjacent the topographical map is utilized to provide additional information on patient brain activity. The user has a number of options available to select various information for display and analysis.
