Publication number: 20110082517Abstract: A device and method for promoting a localized increase in a flow of blood through veins in a conical limb segment of a user, the device including: (a) a compression unit, adapted to at least partially envelope the conical limb segment, and (b) an electrical stimulation unit including: (i) a plurality of electrodes, each adapted to operatively contact the limb segment; (ii) a signal generator, operatively connected to at least one of the electrodes, and adapted to electrically connect to a power supply, whereby, when the electrodes are disposed on the limb segment, the signal generator provides a series of electrical impulses to the limb segment via the electrodes, to contract at least one muscle in the limb segment in at least one region of contraction, to effect the localized increase in the flow of blood, and (iii) a control unit, associated with the signal generator, and configured to control the signal generator to produce the series of electrical stimulation impulses, the electrodes physically attached tType: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2010Publication date: April 7, 2011Applicant: Empire Bio-Medical Devices Inc.Inventors: Yaakov B. Patent number: 5711033Abstract: An air flow and filtration control system in the form of a headgear which is worn by a physician during a surgical procedure, a technician during an assembly process, or any other user wherein controlled air flow and air filtration is required or desired. The flow-through system includes a relatively rigid, open frame, skeleton headgear structure which substantially surrounds the head of the wearer. A fan is mounted in the headgear structure. The fan is positioned to move air through ducts formed in the headgear structure. A shroud (or hood) is draped over and attached to the headgear structure in such a fashion as to completely cover the headgear structure and to cover at least a portion of the wearer in order to maintain sterile or controlled conditions relative to the wearer. The shroud includes filtration areas which may encompass the entire shroud. The filtration areas may be disposed adjacent to the fans when the shroud is placed over the headgear structure.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1995Date of Patent: January 27, 1998Assignee: Bio-Medical Devices, Inc.Inventors: Lawrence J. Green, Harry Nicholas Herbert

Patent number: 5564124Abstract: A personal body ventilation system includes a battery powered blower for providing air under pressure to the interior of a disposable garment formed by an inner air impervious layer and an outer air impervious layer. Porous-to-air open celled foam is incorporated into the garment at areas where cooling is desired and provides porous surfaces adjacent the body of the wearer from which the air under pressure in the interior of the garment may be directed against the body of the wearer. The system includes a filter arrangement in which a filter incorporated in the garment filters the ambient air prior to being drawn into the blower. The blower, the ouput of which is coupled to the garment in the rear by an elliptical connection, includes miniature radial turbine fans operating under a variable speed control. The circulated air may be heated or cooled or treated in various manners such as filtering or humidifying/dehumidifying to meet the requirements of the specific user environment.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1995Date of Patent: October 15, 1996Assignee: Bio-Medical Devices, IncInventors: Dina Elsherif, Lawrence Green

Patent number: 5054480Abstract: An air flow and filtration control system in the form of a headgear which is worn by a physician during a surgical procedure, a technician during an assembly process, or any other user wherein a controlled air flow and air filtration is required or desired. The flow through system includes a relatively rigid, open frame, skeleton headgear structure which substantially surrounds the head of the wearer. The structure includes ductwork and is adjustably attached to a headband formed of straps which are adapted to snugly engage the head of the wearer.A plurality of fans or other air moving devices are mounted in the structure. The fans are positioned to move air through the integral ducts in the structure. A shroud (or hood) is draped over and attached to the structure in such a fashion as to completely cover the structure and to cover at least a portion of the wearer in order to maintain sterile or controlled conditions.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1990Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Assignee: Bio Medical Devices, Inc.Inventors: Rex O.
