Abstract: This invention relates to bioabsorbable materials and implants used to prevent and treat infection and promote bone growth. More specifically, this invention relates to synthetic bioabsorbable drug delivery materials and implants comprising: (a) a synthetic bioabsorbable polymeric matrix; (b) an antibiotic phase dispersed into said polymeric matrix; and (c) antibacterial, bioabsorbable, bioactive glass, dispersed into said polymeric matrix for the promotion of bone growth.
