Abstract: There is described the preparation of polymers from nucleotide and/or non-nucleotide monomers, in particular the preparation of natural and/or base-modified and/or sugar-modified and/or phosphate group-modified oligodeoxyribonucleotides and/or oligoribonucleotides and/or non-nucleotide polymers in an enzymatic manner in 3′→5′ direction using a RNA ligase.

wherein R1 and R2 may be the same or different and denote hydrogen or an organic radical, which comprises subjecting a 3-iodomethyl-cephalosporin to a Wittig reaction in the presence of a weak base.
