Abstract: A securement device for catheter tubes and polymer coated cables includes a base mounted on a support surface, and male and female straps, the male straps having locking members that mate with corresponding apertures in the female straps. The male and female straps connect to a base via fixed ends of the respective male and female straps, and each of the fixed ends comprises a curved portion configured to orient the corresponding unsecured strap substantially parallel to the base. Each of the fixed ends of the male straps mate with the fixed ends of the corresponding female strap, thereby forming a crease for seating the tube or cable being secured.

Abstract: A low profile gripping device having a locking assembly attached to a base, wherein the locking assembly comprises a locking strap with pairs of fins disposed for insertion into an aperture of a buckle. The locking assembly comprises an offset anchor block having opposing sides, the locking strap attached to one side, and the buckle attached to the opposing side. The interface between the locking strap and the anchor block forms a groove for seating a flexible polymer tube or polymer coated cable. The groove is located above the base such that the seated tube or cable is substantially centered above the base. The locking strap is inserted through the aperture to secure the tube or cable in the groove, and the fins retain the locking strap in fixed relation to the buckle.

Abstract: A male external incontinence device comprising a drainage tube assembly having a proximal chamber in fluid communication with a drainage tube, the proximal chamber comprising an atmospheric equilibrium valve assembly. The atmospheric equilibrium valve assembly has an airway conduit with a upper portion in fluid communication with the proximal chamber, and a lower portion having an air inlet chamber. A one-way air valve disposed in the airway conduit above the air inlet chamber, the one-way air valve comprising a first pair of opposing walls disposed at a first set of opposing angles such that the first pair of opposing walls abut each other at an apex, the apex having a self-sealing slit.
Abstract: This invention relates to complexes of certain divalent and polyvalent d-orbital metals of first transition series of the Periodic Table of Elements, from Group IV to Group VI, and including molybdenum, having a hydroxy acid [HA] and an amino acid [AA] moiety concurrently bound to a single said metal and having a spirocyclic, bidentate chelate structure of formula (I). Upon topical application said metal complexes undergo enhanced skin penetration without causing skin irritation.
Abstract: A male external incontinence device includes a first seal formed of adhesive leaves carried by a housing and a second seal attached to the housing to be at a fixed position relative to the first seal and having a length to extend around the first seal after the leaves are secured to a penis.
Abstract: The present invention discloses certain derivatives of artemisinin and the active principles contained in Artemisia annua extracts with amino acids, peptides, and amino sugars and salts thereof (formula I).

Abstract: An ascorbic acid-based composition and related method for the treatment of aging or photo-damaged skin is disclosed. The composition includes water and ascorbic acid, at least a portion of which has generally been pretreated by being dissolved under relatively high temperature and concentration conditions. The composition typically includes at least about 5.0% (w/v) ascorbic acid and may advantageously be formulated to have a pH above 3.5. Generally, the composition also includes non-toxic zinc salt, tyrosine compound, and/or pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. In addition, the composition may include an anti-inflammatory compound, such as aminosugar and/or sulfur-containing anti-inflammatory compound. The topical composition may be in the form of a serum, a hydrophilic lotion, an ointment, a cream, or a gel.
Abstract: The present invention discloses certain heterocyclic complexes of metals of formula (I), especially those of manganese, which enhance the safety and efficacy of sunscreens via urocanate pathway modulation.

Abstract: A urine collection assembly includes a urine collection device and a urine collection chamber in communication with the urine collection device. The urine collection chamber includes a collection reservoir, an entrance conduit having an inlet to receive urine from the urine collection device and an outlet terminating in the reservoir, an anti-reflux valve, and an exit conduit. The collection reservoir is configured to be wearable in close proximity to a user's body below the waist and above the knees of the user. The collection reservoir holds urine excreted from a user. The exit conduit enables drainage of the collection reservoir. The exit conduit also enables attachment of the collection reservoir to an additional conventional urine collection chamber. The anti-reflex valve is configured to prevent urine from backing up out of the urine collection chamber and into the urine collection device.
