Abstract: The system and method store biometric information on a token having a magnetic storage medium. A biometric image is captured and digital pixel data is generated therefrom for an array of image pixels. A plurality of spaced apart sets of image pixels are selected from the array of image pixels, and respective sets of digital pixel data are processed for the selected spaced apart sets of image pixels to produce biometric data. The biometric data is stored on the magnetic storage medium of the token for subsequent use in verifying an authorized user of the token.
