Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for restraining a patient's leg during knee surgery or similar procedure features and improved restraining member that is attachable to an operating room table. The restraining member has a lower concave portion that engages the upper portion and sides of the patient's leg. The restraining member has an upper convex portion that is reinforced with a plurality of ridges. The concave portion can be fitted with an inflatable bladder. The concave portion in other embodiments is fitted with a belt arrangement that enables different degrees of constriction to be imparted to the leg.
Abstract: A binodal wireless sensor provides biomechanics feedback focused on movement tracking for the purpose of facilitating enhanced user training and recovery decisions. The sensing device and methods of use differs distinctly from current devices by utilizing a plurality of inertial sensors within a single, non-rigid unit to, among other things, identify a segment's position in space, identify internal movement and stability such as torsion, bending, shear movement, etc. in the segment, and/or between two segments. The unit includes data storage, wireless transmission, rechargeable battery, local processing and data collection sensors. The unit relays data to an intelligent device that provides feedback to the user.
Abstract: Various systems, processes, and techniques may be used to achieve biometric identification via retina scanning. In some implementations, systems, processes, and techniques may include the ability to scan a retina using a scanning laser ophthalmoscope to acquire at least one retina image, analyze the image to identify retina blood vessels, and identify a plurality of branch points of the retina blood vessels. The systems processes, and techniques may also include the ability to calculate a data set that represents the identified branch points, compare the calculated data set representing the branch points against at least one pre-stored data set representing retina branch points, and determine whether the calculated data set corresponds to the pre-stored data set.
