Patent number: 11833689Abstract: Disclosed is a portable rehabilitation apparatus and method for use of the apparatus by a user or patient. The apparatus is adapted for transitioning between a collapsed state to facilitate the mobility of the rehabilitation robot (e.g., using wheels) and an open state for operation of the rehabilitation robot by the user. The apparatus includes the rehabilitation robot that is contained within a compartment defined by a housing which is made up of moveable portions. The apparatus also includes a mast assembly adapted to form a gap between the moveable housing portions in order to provide the user with access to the rehabilitation robot. The mast assembly is further adapted to collapse, thereby eliminating the gap and closing off the compartment when the rehabilitation robot is not in use.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2020Date of Patent: December 5, 2023Assignee: Bionik, Inc.Inventors: Evgeny Offengenden, Stephen Donald Sharp, Sagar Saxena, Bavly Maged Youakim Fahmy, Mehmet Fatih Yuzbasioglu

Patent number: 11744763Abstract: Disclosed is a hand and arm support assembly for use by a user or patient to rehabilitate a hand of the patient. The hand and arm support assembly includes a hand actuator assembly and a forearm rest assembly. The hand actuator assembly provides a support for a hand engagement assembly having a housing and hand actuator rod engagement members projecting upwards therefrom to engage the hand of the patient. The housing is rotatable to accommodate the position of the patient's hand and the rod engagement members are adapted to travel along slots towards and away from one another. The forearm rest assembly includes a first carriage and a second carriage to support the forearm and elbow of the patient. The first and second carriage can pivot about an axis relative to the housing to further accommodate the position of the patient's arm and elbow.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2019Date of Patent: September 5, 2023Assignee: Bionik, Inc.Inventors: Stephen Lawrence, Taya Hamilton

Publication number: 20200306952Abstract: Disclosed is a system, method and/or computer readable medium for controlling an exoskeleton associated with a user. The exoskeleton includes a body portion secured to an abdominal section of the user and a limb structure secured to one or more thighs of the user. The limb structure is pivotally connected to the body portion to facilitate rotation of the limb structure about a pivot axis. One or more sensors, associated with the exoskeleton, receive input data related to a movement of the user. Also included is a processor to automatically analyze the input data using one or more algorithms to generate output data having a torque based on the movement of the user. A drive force transmission mechanism associated with the body portion and the limb structure of the exoskeleton is provided to receive the output data from the processor and generate the torque to move the limb structure about the pivot axis.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2019Publication date: October 1, 2020Applicant: Bionik, Inc.Inventor: Negin Lashkari
