  • Patent number: 5593402
Abstract: A laparoscopic device allowing for the quick attachment and removal of interchangeable, detachable distal tips on its distal end. The device includes concentrically-arranged inner and outer cannulae having distal ends which are dimensioned to simultaneously cooperate with the detachable distal tip whereby the tip may be selectively locked against rotational and axial motion. The tips may include a variety of surgical tools which are preferably disposable, while the remainder of the device is easily disassembled for sterilization and cleaning.

  • Patent number: 5248302
Abstract: An internal anchoring device to which a tubular member is attached for introduction/removal of fluids/gases into and out of viscera of a patient. The internal anchoring device is a discontinuous flexible body having a silhouette approximating a truncated pyramid when in a relaxed position. The internal anchoring device provides increased anchoring capability over devices of the prior art yet, at the same time, is easily obturated, thereby facilitating placement/removal.

  • Patent number: 4659328
Abstract: A stylet 2 for stiffening a pliable infusion tube 38 comprising a wire 4 extending between a proximal and a distal end, a coiled spring 22 providing a flexible tip to the distal end of the stylet 2 for more easily feeding the stylet 2 through a convoluted infusion tube 38, a reduced diameter portion 26 of the coiled spring 22 telescoped over the distal end 20 of the wire 4 and bonded thereto, an enlarged end 32 of the coiled spring 22 for preventing the wire tip from exiting from the tube 38 through the tube wall or through openings 58, 60 in the tube 38, and a crimped coil 68 in the spring 22 for limiting the position of the distal end of the wire 4 in the spring 22, a connector 40 mounted on the tube proximal end, a bolus 50 mounted on the tube distal end, a connector 10 mounted on the proximal end of the wire 4, spring 22 being adapted to be seated in the bolus 50, wire 4 being longer than tube 38, whereby when proximal end connector 40 of the tube abuts the proximal end connector 10 of the wire 4, the bol

  • Patent number: 4388076
Abstract: An intubating device has a flexible tube with an open proximal end and a discharge opening adjacent its distal end. A hollow stylet connector plug is removably secured to the proximal end of the tube. A stylet is secured to the plug and extends through the interior of the tube to a point adjacent the distal end of the tube. The stylet has an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the tube and smaller than the inner diameter of the plug to permit the passage of fluid between the stylet and the tube and between the stylet and the plug. A hollow connector fitting is integral with the plug and has a passage communicating with the interior of the plug. A stop accurately locates the stylet with respect to the tube preferably extending the tube.

  • Patent number: 4119094
Abstract: A substrate is coated with a polyvinylpyrrolidone-polyurethane interpolymer. In the method, a polyisocyanate and a polyurethane in a solvent such as methyl ethyl ketone are applied to a substrate and the solvent evaporated. If the substrate is a polyurethane, only the polyisocyanate need be employed. Polyvinylpyrrolidone in a solvent is then applied to the treated substrate and the solvent evaporated. The invention is applied, for example, to a tube such as a catheter, a condom and a peristaltic pump tube.
