  • Patent number: 5075083
Abstract: In plant for the production of alkylated resins from an alcohol of boiling point greater than 100.degree. C. at atmospheric pressure, comprising an alkylation reactor, a distillation column, a condenser, and a separator, structure is provided to ensure that contact between descending alcohol-rich liquid phase and the vapor stream of alcohol and water ascending from the reactor is confined essentially to the walls of the column.

  • Patent number: 4656206
Abstract: A pigmented thermoplastic polymer masterbatch composition comprises a polyester of melting point above 200.degree. C. based on polyethylene terephthalate, a second polymer to plasticize the polyester, and pigment in an amount of at least 20 parts per 100 parts of composition. The second polymer can be also a toughening agent for the PET and can be a polycarprolactone, or a copolymer of ethylene with acrylic acid or vinyl acetate.

  • Patent number: 4623691
Abstract: An amino-formaldehyde moulding composition is made by compounding togetheran aqueous amino-formaldehyde resin solution to provide 0 to 90 percent by weight of the resin component of the composition, filler to make up 20 to 60 percent by weight of the moulding composition andUF resin which had a low degree of condensation, is solid at room temperature, contains a modifier and makes up 4 to 80 percent by weight of the moulding composition. The moulding compositions themselves are also claimed.

  • Patent number: 4564667
Abstract: A solid urea-formaldehyde resin is provided, having a degree of condensation of 25% to 45%.A process for making the resin is also described and includes several steps. Urea and formaldehyde is first reacted with a molar ratio of U:F of 1:2.5 or more then concentrated. Further urea is added to reduce the ratio to the range 1:1.1 to 1:2 and further concentration is achieved without precipitation of solid resin by the use of a stabilization agent.
