Abstract: Method and plant to make tesserae (11) for glass mosaic, containing ornamental metal foil (14) inside. The method comprises the steps of positioning a first glass strip (30), with a metal foil (14) associated above, on a work plane (20) including first molding means (22), localized heating of the work plane (20) to obtain a softening of the first glass strip (30), casting a quantity of glass onto the metal foil (14), pressing the semi-worked product (29) in its plastic state, and molding the semi-worked product (29) to define the contours of the tesserae (11), by means of cooperation between second molding means (19) and the first molding means (22). One or more of the steps are performed sequentially in at least one work station (40-49).
Abstract: Apparatus to amalgamate a paste of vitreous material in the molten state with an additive material in the form of granules, scales, slivers or filaments, made of metal, of other types of glass or other material in order to obtain a vitreous compound. The apparatus comprises containing means (11) to contain the paste of vitreous material, mixing means (15) to convey the vitreous compound downwards, in its molten state, towards rolling means (12) to produce manufactured articles. The mixing means (15) comprise at least a first pair of mixing cylinders (19a, 19b) having the respective axes of rotation (20a, 20b) arranged substantially horizontal, parallel to each other and substantially parallel, or slightly inclined, with respect to the direction in which a rolling force is applied by said rolling means (12).
Abstract: Device and method to produce panels of mosaic tesserae (13), wherein at least a supporting and/or lining sheet (12) is applied on a visible face of the tesserae (13) arranged inside an advancing frame (14); the device comprises feed means (16) and means to apply the sheet (12) cooperating with the feed means of the frame (14), and the application means comprise cutting means (20) able to cut to size a segment (12a) of the sheet (12) and suction drum means (18) able to retain at least temporarily, on their outer cylindrical surface, the segment (12a) of sheet (12) and to release it onto the tesserae (13).
