Abstract: A brushroll dowel for a vacuum cleaner having bristle stiffeners protruding from a brush dowel. The brushroll can be made using an injection molding process, with the bristle stiffeners integrally molded with the brush dowel and a plurality of stiffened bristles protruding from the brush dowel adjacent to the bristle stiffeners.
Abstract: A cleaning pad for use with a surface cleaning appliance, such as a steam mop, includes a cleaning composition and at least one visually discernible indicator that alerts a user to the condition of the cleaning pad. The visually discernible indicator can change color as the cleaning composition is consumed.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner includes a foot assembly having a suction inlet thereon, a suction source in fluid communication with the suction inlet to produce a working airflow therethrough, and a dirt container in fluid communication with the suction inlet and suction source. The foot assembly further comprises a body defined by a central portion and a pair of extension arms, a rotatable agitator on each extension arm, and a drive assembly configured to counter-rotate the agitators. The counter-rotating agitators are operable to cooperate with the suction source to direct dust and debris towards the suction inlet.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner includes an upright body and a base carrying a suction nozzle that is pivotally coupled with the upright body for movement between at least a storage position and a reclined use position. A motor is in fluid communication with the suction nozzle and is mounted in the upright body in a configuration that partially offsets the weight-in-hand of the upright assembly as perceived by a user of the vacuum cleaner.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner includes a suction nozzle, a source of suction in fluid communication with the suction nozzle for generating a working airstream through the suction nozzle, an agitator provided within the suction nozzle, and a sole plate provided on a lower side the suction nozzle, wherein the sole plate comprises a plurality of upwardly curved cross ribs.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner includes a housing having a suction nozzle opening, a source of suction in fluid communication with the suction nozzle opening for generating a working air stream through the housing, and a multiply-adjustable debris collecting blade coupled along the rear of the suction nozzle opening for collecting debris.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner has an agitator assembly that is coupled to a motor via a belt, and a belt shifting assembly which has a belt shifter which moves the belt between engagement with a drive pulley or an idler pulley on the agitator assembly. A biasing member biases the belt shifter between engagement with the drive pulley and the idler pulley.
Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus includes a fluid delivery system having a manifold with a plurality of release openings for delivering a cleaning fluid to the surface to be cleaned.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner includes a base housing having a suction nozzle with a front suction nozzle opening provided on the front of the base housing, a source of suction in fluid communication with the suction nozzle for generating a working air stream through the upper unit, and a diverter assembly to selectively restrict a portion of the front suction nozzle opening.
Abstract: A bare floor cleaner has a base and a handle pivotally connected to the base. The handle is movable between a dry mode position and a wet mode position. A fluid delivery system of the bare floor cleaner includes a source of cleaning fluid and a fluid distributor in fluid communication with the source of cleaning fluid for dispensing cleaning fluid onto a surface to be cleaned. A recovery system of the bare floor cleaner includes a disabling mechanism for disabling the recovery system when the fluid distributor is dispensing cleaning fluid onto the surface to be cleaned.
Abstract: A deep cleaner for delivering cleaning fluid to a surface to be cleaned and removing the cleaning fluid from the surface to be cleaned includes a pivotal brush carriage assembly comprising a pair of support legs, a rotatable brushroll extending between the first and second support legs, a brush motor, and a belt operably coupling the rotatable brushroll to the brush motor, wherein the belt is provided within one of the support legs.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner has a separation/collection module for separating dirt and other contaminants from a dirt-containing working airstream and collecting the separated dirt. The module can include at least one cyclonic separation stage and an exhaust grill fluidly positioned between the separation stage and an air outlet from the collection module.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner is provided with a necked-down suction channel formed in a housing adapted for movement over a surface to be cleaned. The housing further includes a suction nozzle and an agitator chamber. The necked-down suction channel has a height that is less than the height of the agitator chamber.

Abstract: A mist generating system for a cleaning implement is adapted to generate a finely atomized liquid mist for suppressing dust, allergens, and other airborne particulates. The mist generating system can be adapted to fit many cleaning implements such as vacuum cleaners, wet extraction cleaners, floor mops, and dusters to suppress airborne dust and particulates generated during operation and the cleaning process.
