Patent number: 4442909Abstract: A drill bit for connection on a drill string has a hollow tubular body with an end cutting face and an exterior peripheral stabilizer surface with cylindrical sintered carbide inserts positioned therein. Nozzle passages extend from the interior of the bit body through the cutting face for receiving a removable and interchangeable nozzle member therein. The cutting face has a plurality of recesses therein which receive, by an interference fit, a plurality of cutting elements of the type known as STRATAPAX, consisting of a cylindrical stud having an angular supporting surface with a cutting disc bonded thereon consisting of sintered carbide having a cutting surface of polycrystalline diamond. The recesses in the cutting face have milled offset recesses adjacent to the edges thereof which are sized and positioned to permit the cutting discs to be partially recessed and to restrain the cutting elements from rotation during use.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1981Date of Patent: April 17, 1984Assignee: Strata Bit CorporationInventor: Robert P. Patent number: 4381825Abstract: A drill bit for connection on a drill string has a hollow tubular body with an end cutting face and an exterior peripheral stabilizer surface with cylindrical sintered carbide inserts positioned therein and a novel arrangement for securing replaceable nozzles. Nozzle passages extend from the interior of the bit body through the cutting face for receiving a removable and interchangeable nozzle member therein. A portion of the length of each passage is threaded and the remainder of the passage is enlarged and of a smooth bore. The nozzle member is formed of wear-resistant hard metal, e.g. carbide, and has a metal sleeve brazed thereon with male threads operable to be fitted in the threads in said nozzle passage. The nozzle member is threadedly secured in place during installation and optionally further secured against unscrewing and additionally protected against wear or erosion by a metal or hard metal, e.g. carbide, retaining ring having an interference fit in the smooth portion of the nozzle passage.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1981Date of Patent: May 3, 1983Assignee: Strata Bit CorporationInventor: Robert P. Patent number: 4323130Abstract: A new and improved drill bit for connection on a drill string has a hollow tubular body with an end cutting face and an exterior peripheral stabilizer surface with cylindrical sintered carbide inserts positioned therein. Nozzle passages extend from the interior of the bit body through the cutting face, preferably at an angle of about 10.degree.-25.degree. relative to the longitudinal axis of the body, and consist of a passage in the bit body and a removable and interchangeable nozzle member. The nozzle member is secured in place either by peripheral grooves and snap rings or aligned smaller passages in the nozzle member and the bit body having a retaining pin positioned therein.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1980Date of Patent: April 6, 1982Assignee: Strata Bit CorporationInventor: Mahlon Dennis

Patent number: 4079358Abstract: A buried junction MOS memory capacitor target device for electron beam addressable READ/WRITE memories is described along with a method of using the same. The memory capacitor target structure comprises a planar semiconductor substrate of various degrees of complexity having a highly conducting coating providing a low resistance ohmic contact to the substrate backside and an N-type planar semiconductor overlayer forming with the substrate topside a bipolar detector junction. An insulating layer overlies the N-type layer and a conducting coating overlies the insulating layer. The device is employed with an electron beam of sufficient energy to penetrate the latter two layers and to produce carrier-pairs in the N-type overlayer. Electrical access to the device is provided by one contact to the substrate backside and one contact to the conducting coating overlying the insulator.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 1976Date of Patent: March 14, 1978Assignee: Micro-Bit CorporationInventor: Floyd O. Patent number: 4068218Abstract: A method and apparatus for deep depletion read-out of data stored in a metal-insulator-semiconductor-metal capacitor memory element wherein a predetermined read-out potential is established across the memory capacitor while discrete storage sites within the capacitor are interrogated by a scanning electron beam probe and the magnitude of the resultant memory capacitor discharge current obtained from probing a particular site with the electron beam is indicative of the character of data stored at the site. The improvement comprises applying a voltage step across the capacitor memory element just prior to read-out with the electron beam, the voltage step corresponding in polarity to the polarity of the majority carriers in the semiconductor.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 1976Date of Patent: January 10, 1978Assignee: Micro-Bit CorporationInventor: Robert K. Patent number: 3970887Abstract: A new and improved microminiature field emission electron source and method of manufacturing is described using a single crystal semiconductor substrate. The substrate is processed in accordance with known integrated microelectronic circuit techniques to form a plurality of integral, single crystal semiconductor raised field emitter tips at desired field emission cathode sites on the surface of the substrate in a manner such that the field emitter tips are integral with the single crystal semiconductor substrate. An insulating layer and overlying conductive layer may be formed in the order named over the semiconductor substrate and provided with openings at the field emission site locations to form micro-anode structures for each field emitter tip.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1974Date of Patent: July 20, 1976Assignee: Micro-Bit CorporationInventors: Donald O.
