Abstract: Provided is a system and method for a bi-directional DC/DC converter. More specifically, provided is a bi-directional DC/DC converter, having a balancing effect of two bi-directional input points and two bi-directional output points to three distinct pairs of MOSFET circuits disposed between the input points and the output points. The balancing effect is provided by a copper backplane having a first side and a second side, the first side providing first power terminals and second power terminals through the backplane the second side providing electrical traces disposing two pairs of MOSFETS each at a first proximity to either of the first power terminals or the second power terminals with a first effective resistance and the third pair of MOSFETS at a second proximity between the first power terminals and the second power terminals with a second effective resistance, wherein the first effective resistance is substantially the same as the second effective resistance.

  • Patent number: 8929099
Abstract: A bi-directional DC/DC converter includes at least one module having a module input for providing a bi-directional module input current, and a module output with an output inductor for providing a bi-directional module output current. A transformer has a primary winding wound around a transformer core and connected to the module input, and a secondary winding wound around the core and connected to the module output. A primary set of switches is connected in an H-bridge configuration between the module input and the primary winding. And, a secondary set of switches is connected in an H-bridge configuration between the module output and the secondary winding. A current sensing component senses the module output current. A hysteretic control drives the primary set of switches to control flux. The hysteretic control drives the secondary set of switches to control the module output current as a function of the sensed module output current.

  • Patent number: 5914609
Abstract: A method and system is provided for calibrating a plurality of electrical circuits used to charge and test a plurality of battery cells. An improved cell rack module includes at least one movable platen having a plurality of pin assemblies removably secured thereto. The movable platen is slidably movable within the cell rack module between an extended position or a retracted position. Extension mechanisms are used to force the movable platen into the extended position during calibration, charging and testing procedures, and retraction mechanisms return the platen to the retracted position when the extension mechanisms are not actuated. When the movable platen is in the extended position, the pin assemblies are maintained in electrical contact with either the battery cells associated with a conventional cell tray or contact plates associated with a calibration tray.
