  • Publication number: 20200190389
Abstract: Liners may be cemented in a well bore contaminated with an oil-based or synthetic fluid by injecting an aqueous cleaning fluid into the well, energizing the cleaning fluid to displace fluids present in an annulus between the liner and the bore and to create turbulent flow of the cleaning fluid in the annulus, and injecting a cementitious slurry into the annulus after the cleaning fluid. The cleaning fluid comprises a weighting agent, a suspending agent, a surfactant, and nut shell particulates. The turbulent flow of the cleaning fluid through the annulus is effective to remove oily residues left by the oil-based or synthetic fluid.

  • Patent number: 10317875
Abstract: An embodiment includes a method of monitoring a fluid pump that includes receiving time domain measurement data indicating vibrations occurring in a fluid pump, and filtering the measurement data to remove measurement data components having frequencies below a threshold frequency, the removed measurement data components associated with cyclical motions of the fluid pump. The method also includes dividing the filtered measurement data into a plurality of subsets, each subset corresponding to a pump cycle, and estimating a peak count for each subset, the peak count being a number of peaks having an amplitude that exceeds a selected amplitude threshold, the amplitude threshold associated with impacts between internal components of the pump. The method further includes comparing the peak count with an expected peak count, and determining whether the pump is in a condition selected from at least one of a wear condition and a failure condition based on the comparison.

  • Patent number: 10233385
Abstract: A well servicing fluid includes ingredients including a GLDA salt, a crosslinker, and a viscosifying agent that is not crosslinked by the crosslinker. A well treatment method includes forming a well servicing fluid with ingredients including a GLDA salt, a viscosifying agent, and a crosslinker, the GLDA salt containing a metal cation chelated with a GLDA anion. The well servicing fluid is inserted into a well in a formation. The method includes crosslinking the viscosifying agent and attaining a first viscosity of the well servicing fluid using the crosslinker. After the attaining of the first viscosity, viscosity of the well servicing fluid in the well is decreased to a second viscosity less than the first viscosity by using the GLDA anion. The GLDA salt may be a GLDA calcium salt and the crosslinker may be a zirconium crosslinker.

  • Publication number: 20190009232
Abstract: The density of slurries produced by mobile blender for injection into oil and gas wells is controlled using a microwave flow meter. Liquid having a known density is provided to the blender. The liquid is flowed through a conduit and discharged into a blending tub on the mobile blender. The amount of liquid introduced into the tub is measured with a liquid flow meter. Solid particulates having a known density are provided to the blender. The particulates are discharged into the tub by allowing them to fall into the tub from a conveyor on the mobile blender. The amount of the particulates falling into the tub are measured with a microwave flow meter. The flow of the liquid and the particulates are controlled in response to the measurements to blend a slurry having a predetermined density. The slurry is provided for injection into the well.

  • Publication number: 20180346800
Abstract: Sealers are used to selectively divert flow through liner openings during stimulation operations. The sealers comprise an aggregate of dissolvable particles that will allow the sealer to dissolve more quickly once the stimulation operation is finished. The aggregate preferably comprises a distribution of different particle sizes. Larger particles will provide the primary bridge across the opening, with smaller sizes filling gaps between the larger particles and allowing the aggregate to more effectively plug the opening.
