Abstract: A protective glove having a protective function against toxic chemical agents, especially chemical warfare agents, and a multilayer construction including a breathable layer is disclosed. The glove has a support layer and a barrier layer, which is assigned to the support layer and which faces the hand when the glove is worn, prevents or at least retards the passage of toxic chemical agents, and contains an adsorption layer based on an adsorbent material, such as activated carbon, which adsorbs toxic chemical agents. The barrier layer has, in addition to the adsorption layer, a membrane, which is at least preferably impermeable to water and air, but permeable to water vapor, and which retards the passage of toxic chemical agents or is at least essentially impermeable to toxic chemical agents. The membrane is arranged between the support layer and the adsorption layer.

Abstract: Disclosure is made of a specific process for producing activated carbon in spherical form, starting with organic polymer spherules based on styrene and divinylbenzene, wherein said polymer spherules contain chemical groups leading to the formation of free radicals and thus to cross-linkages by their thermal decomposition, in particular sulfonic acid groups. Furthermore, various application purposes for the thus-produced activated carbon spherules are named.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rotary tube (1), in particular for a rotary tubular kiln for the production of activated carbon, said rotary tube (1) having a plurality of mixing elements (3), in particular metal turning plates, said mixing elements (3) being arranged in the interior (2) of the rotary tube (1) for circulating and/or mixing the charge material (4). The rotary tube (1) has apertures (5) for receiving securing sections (6) of the mixing elements (3), the securing sections (6) being welded to the outer side of the rotary tube (1). This prevents the welding location being exposed to the aggressive conditions in the interior (2) of the rotary tube (1) in the operating state during production of activated carbon, and it is readily possible for the welding location to be inspected from the outside, and for maintenance and repair to be carried out as necessary.
Abstract: An adsorption filter material used especially for producing protective materials, such as NBC protective suits, has a first layer, a second layer, and an adsorption layer arranged between the first layer and the second layer. The adsorption layer has a first activated carbon layer with granular or spherical activated carbon particles. The first activated carbon layer additionally contains activated carbon fibers and/or the adsorption layer additionally contains a second activated carbon layer with activated carbon fibers.

Abstract: A filter unit for the purification of air includes at least a first filter element, which contains granular, especially spherical, activated carbon as an adsorbent material, and at least a second filter element, which contains a combination of granular, especially spherical, activated carbon and activated carbon fibers as an adsorbent material. The filter unit is suitable especially for use in ventilation plants, ventilation systems, air-conditioning systems and the like.

Abstract: A two-part protective suit, especially for protective purposes and/or for military purposes, such as a NBC protective suit or the like, with a jacket and trousers, the jacket having a peripheral edge which overlaps the trousers and is able to be joined to the trousers. The jacket also has a peripheral connecting section which is joined to the jacket, above the jacket edge, i.e., spaced away from the jacket edge, the connecting section and the trousers having a connecting element so that the connecting section can be joined to the trousers for sealed connection of the jacket to trousers.

Abstract: A pilot's glove includes a first material piece for covering a hand front side and a second material piece for covering a hand rear side. The first and second material pieces have edges by which the first and second material pieces are connected to one another to forma seam which lies on a rear side of the hand when the glove is worn, so that the fingertips are free of seams and all seams lie on the hand rear side. The front side and rear side each have a hydrophobic and oleophobic finish for protection against chemical warfare agents.
Abstract: A glove is provide having a first piece of material for covering a front of a hand and a second piece of material for covering a back of a hand. The first piece of material is formed in the shape of a hand having fingers and extends more than half way around the circumference of each finger and has a narrower tip near a top of each finger. The narrower tip extends beyond the top of each finger. The second piece of material is formed in the shape of a hand having fingers and extends less than half way around the circumference of each finger and below the top of each finger. The first piece of material and the second piece of material are attached at an edge of each piece to form a seam that falls on the back of the hand when the glove is worn. Optionally, at least the first piece of material is lined with an adsorption layer for sorbing chemicals.
