Patent number: 4988556Abstract: A device for mounting a transparency. The device includes back and front sheets of transparent plastic. The outer edges of the sheets are continuously bonded together. In a preferred embodiment, an opaque coating on the front sheet defines one or more generally rectangular windows. Each window is variously sized to permit the transparency to be viewed therethrough but to prevent light from leaking around the transparency. The sheets are continuously bonded together along three sides of the window to form a pocket between the sheets for mounting the transparency. A slit is formed along a fourth side of the window for inserting the transparency into the pocket.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1989Date of Patent: January 29, 1991Assignee: Block Drug Co., Inc.Inventors: Carl G. Nilsen, Gary L. Weisling, Arthur Sternheimer, Ralph A. Montes, Douglas R. Schoen

Patent number: 4986754Abstract: A nonshrinkable, thermoplastic and injectable endodontic filling composition. The composition is a mixture of transpolyisoprene, either naturally produced as balata or gutta percha, or synthesized from isoprene, and a liquid castor ester platicizer. Alternatively, the mixture comprises transpolyisoprene, a liquid castor ester plasticizer and a liquid castor oil or dimethyl silcon fluid lubricant. The mixture is preferably a combination of the transpolyisoprene, the liquid castor ester plasticizer and the liquid castor oil or liquid dimethyl silicon fluid lubricant or both. The composition is compounded to form a highly thermoplastic material which is injectable at a clinically acceptable temperature with a manually operated injection system without shrinkage of the composition after placement in a dental root canal.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1990Date of Patent: January 22, 1991Assignee: Block Drug Co., Inc.Inventors: Tiang-shing Chang, Lisa N. W. Marchese

Patent number: 4612191Abstract: A toothpaste having high polishing and cleaning properties suitable for use in the removal of coffee and tea stains comprises about 10-35% of an abrasive system combined with a non-toxic paste, said abrasive system comprising a combination of anhydrous aluminum silicate and diatomaceous silica in a ratio of about 0.5:1-1.5:1, said toothpaste having a radioactive dentin abrasion index not in excess of about 150. The system provides excellent fluoride stability during storage and does not interfere with fluoride bioavailability.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1984Date of Patent: September 16, 1986Assignee: Block Drug Co., Inc.Inventors: Kuo-Chen Yeh, Joseph Synodis
