Abstract: An object-oriented framework for generating data analysis results using pluggable platform runtimes and data analysis results documents using pluggable export services is disclosed. The object-oriented framework is comprised of software interfaces and objects for facilitating the generation of data analysis results and data analysis results documents and the creation of new pluggable platform runtime and export service objects. Software programmers can create new computer program products as either standalone applications or plug-in modules for word processing applications that leverage the object-oriented framework to generate data analysis results and data analysis results documents.

Abstract: A computer-readable extensible markup language data structure comprising structural elements for defining a data-analysis parts container in a data-analysis template comprising a word processor document is disclosed. The computer-readable data structure is comprised of at least one properties element for receiving properties associated with the data-analysis parts container and at least one data-analysis parts element for receiving data-analysis parts, wherein the properties and data-analysis parts elements define the data-analysis container. The computer-readable extensible markup language data structure allows the user/programmer to perform data analysis within the familiar environment of a word processor application using data-analysis templates. The extensible markup language data structure also allows the user/programmer to generate a programmable object model for accessing XLM-defined resources of the data-analysis parts container.

Abstract: An interactive data-analysis part pane is provided for receiving and displaying a data-analysis part in a word processor application. The interactive data-analysis part pane includes a content region for receiving and displaying the data-analysis part in at least one predefined area of the word processor document in a data-analysis template. The content region shares data with the data-analysis part in the data-analysis part container and the data-analysis template comprises a word processor document comprising a data-analysis parts container.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for generating data-analysis results in a word processing program is disclosed. The method may entail the following: providing a data-analysis template, wherein the data-analysis template comprises a word processor document comprising a data-analysis parts container; including at least one data-analysis part in the data-analysis parts container; communicating the data-analysis parts container to a data-analysis processor for generating a data-analysis results collection using the data-analysis parts container; and generating a data-analysis results document.
