Abstract: A device for separating battery or accumulator plates has a supply conveyor (20) for plate stack (10), and a lifting device with two lifting tables (30 and 50) that can be actuated independently of one another to lift a plate stack (10) in the area of an unloading position. In the unloading position, a plate layer (40) is provided, which is equipped with a continuously rotating conveyor belt (41) equipped with suction heads (43). Another conveyor belt (70) is associated with the release-side end of the conveyor belt (41) of the plate layer (40), whereby the uptake-side end of the conveyor belt (70) overlaps with the release-side end of the conveyor belt (41) of the plate layer (40). The conveyor belt (41) of the plate layer (40) can pivot around an axis that is located in the area of the uptake-side end of the other conveyor belt (70) in such a way that its uptake-side end can be lifted from the plate stack (10) and brought closer to the latter.

  • Patent number: 7323018
Abstract: When lead plates (10) for industrial batteries are jacketed the lead plate (10) is surrounded with a first layer (12) of fiber nonwoven, with a second layer (24) of fiber nonwoven, with a layer (28) of punched or perforated plastic film and with a sleeve (30) of separator material. To simplify the jacketing, the second layer (24) of nonwoven and the layer (28) of plastic film are folded jointly around the lengthwise edges (20, 22) of the lead plate (10) and immediately after the first layer (12) of nonwoven has been folded around the lead plate (10). To do this, the lead plate (10) which has been jacketed in the first layer (12) of nonwoven and the second layer (24) and the layer (28) of plastic film are moved jointly into a folding station (C). In the folding station (C) the layer (28) of plastic film for purposes of securing the two nonwoven layers (12) and (24) which have been placed around the lead plates (10) are closed into a sleeve by joining their lengthwise edges to one another.

  • Patent number: 6960058
Abstract: A device for handling stacking or removing articles from a stack, has a stacking wheel located between the lifting elements for stacks and a conveyor. When the stacking wheel turns, depending on the direction of its rotation, an article is moved from the conveyor onto the stack in the lifting direction. The stacking wheel bears pairs of holding plates distributed around its periphery; on them swivelling fingers are supported. The swivelling fingers are pressed by springs into their action position in which they project over the facing surfaces of the holding plates and fit into receiving openings of the articles when articles are moved by the stacking wheel. Control plates are assigned to the stacking wheel and engage with their ramp edges the concave, downwardly pointing surface of the swivelling fingers to swivel them into their readiness position which does not project to the inside over the holding plates.

  • Patent number: 6670072
Abstract: On the delivery side of a device in which tubular sleeves (25) for battery plates are produced from web-shaped separator material, there is a compartmented star (40) with several compartments (41). After a sleeve (25) has been inserted into the compartment (41), the compartmented star (40) is turned to move the compartment (41) with the sleeve (25) into the insertion position. In the insertion position the sleeve (25) in the compartment (41) is pushed by a stop (52) so far that its insertion-side end is pushed over the legs (56) of the spreading elements (55). Through the end of the sleeve (25) held open by the spreading elements (55) a plate is inserted until it rest against the stop (52). Then the sleeve (25) with the plate pushed into it is pulled out of the compartment (41) laterally by rollers (60) and delivered for further use.

  • Patent number: 6499208
Abstract: The device includes a conveyor element for supplying separator strip in a first plane, a device for cutting sections from the separator strip, another conveyor element for preparing the separator strip sections at one folding site and a unit for supplying plates to be jacketed to the folding site in a second plane perpendicular to the first plane. Next to the plane in which the separator strip section is prepared at the folding site, there is a negatively pressurized roller as the device for tensioning the separator strip section prepared in the folding site. In the area of the folding site on the side of the plane in which a separator strip section is prepared at the folding site which is opposite the side from which the plate to be jacketed is supplied, there is a pair of folding rollers.

  • Patent number: 5803935
Abstract: A device for conveying and sectioning of separator strip in devices for producing pockets for battery plates with a conveyor means which conveys the separator strip to a device for dividing the separator strip into separator strip sections, and with another conveyor means which feeds the separator strip sections to a means for folding the separator strip sections around battery plates. The conveyor means for the separator strip and the separator strip sections are continuous conveyor belts supplied with negative pressure, which have several rows of holes and which are routed over chambers supplied with negative pressure. The side of the chamber supplied with negative pressure which faces the continuous conveyor belt has slot-like openings which align with the rows of holes in the continuous conveyor belt. The effective length of the slots of the chamber supplied with negative pressure, that is, the chamber of the conveyor means which is located after the means for dividing the separator strip, can be changed.
