  • Patent number: 12024895
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and system of applying a fluid material to a roofing surface. By modifying a peristaltic pump-driven sprayer device, a fluid material having a viscosity of 10,000 to 40,000 centipoise at 25° C. can be effectively sprayed onto a roofing surface. Additionally, the use of a modified peristaltic pump-driven sprayer device allows for the fluid material to be applied onto the roofing surface at a faster rate than other spraying methods.

  • Patent number: 12006688
Abstract: A cap shingle configured to be installed over a hip or ridge of a roof structure, and a method for creating scored hinge lines in hip and ridge cap shingles during manufacturing while minimizing the likelihood of breakage along the scored hinge lines due to lane tension are disclosed. The method includes forming score lines with a scoring cylinder across lanes of shingle material just before the lanes are cut into individual cap shingles with a pattern cutter. The scoring cylinder and pattern cutter are controlled so that the score lines are consistently applied along the centerlines of the cap shingles.

  • Patent number: 12000149
Abstract: A roofing system including a cap shingle and a method of producing a cap shingle are disclosed. In one embodiment, the cap shingle is formed with a continuous or discontinuous self-sealing adhesive that is applied along a ridgeline direction and can provide high wind resistance, without the use of hand-sealed adhesive application. In an embodiment of the method, one or more layers of a shingle material can be oriented in a machine direction with the self-sealing adhesive applied adjacent side edges of the shingle material to form the cap shingles having self-seal strips and configured to bend in the machine direction for installation of the cap shingles along a ridge of a roof.

  • Patent number: 11987983
Abstract: Roofing shingles are disclosed that are capable of self-adhering to a roof deck or underlayment and/or other roofing shingles and that require few or no mechanical fasteners to remain attached to the roof. By appropriate positioning of sealant lines on the shingle, direct adhesion between the shingle and the roof deck or underlayment and/or other roofing shingles can be achieved. If the shingle is laminated, the layers may be mechanically attached with indentations in the common bond area. The nail zone of the shingle may be visually indicated with fines and/or one or more paint lines. A roofing system comprising a plurality of courses of the shingles is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11978965
Abstract: Systems and methods of the present disclosure include controlling directions of communications including a processor to obtain performance data of an integrated roofing accessory installed on a roof, the integrated roofing accessory including an antenna and a transceiver to enable fifth generation cellular networking (5G) protocol communication with a 5G-enabled device, and an adjustable attachment to orient or position the antenna. The performance data is indicative of 5G signal performance between the integrated roofing accessory and the 5G-enabled device. A signal performance affecting condition is determined using the performance data, where the signal performance affecting condition is a reduced signal performance of a 5G signal beam of the antenna. An improved orientation or an improved position of the antenna is determined to remedy the signal performance affecting condition.

  • Patent number: 11970856
Abstract: A steep slope roofing panel system includes an underlayment and a plurality of roofing panels installed atop the underlayment. The panels may be installed to provide both protection from the environment and watershedding. Alternatively, the panels and the underlayment may share the watershedding functions of the roof, with one as a primary watershedding component and the other as an auxiliary watershedding component. The roofing system may be custom manufactured off-site based upon predetermined measurements and characteristics of a roof and its protrusions. Alternatively, the roofing system may be custom manufactured at the job site based upon such measurements and characteristics. Each panel may be assigned to a location on the roof and may include imprinted instructions regarding cutting and/or bending the panel to form flashing, drip edges, or other features, as well as the panel's location and installation sequence on the roof.
