Patent number: 11529311Abstract: A method of regulating pain in a patient includes operations of measuring a patient pain level, determining a dose of ethanol which does not trigger alcohol intolerance or intoxication, delivering the dose of ethanol to the patient by inhalation from an active mesh nebulizer at a repeated interval, measuring the pain level of the patient at a monitoring interval, and determining, based on the patient pain level, whether to adjust the ethanol dose. The dose of ethanol is delivered in the form of particles of nebulized liquid having a diameter ranging from about 0.5 ?m to about 5.0 ?m, which are rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream of a patient and delivered to the brain.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2021Date of Patent: December 20, 2022Assignee: BN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES, INC.Inventors: Donald M. Pell, Frank Caiazzo

Patent number: 11364225Abstract: A treatment for symptoms of migraine and cluster headaches includes operations of providing a solution of a serotonin receptor agonist (SRA) in an active mesh nebulizer, triggering the formation of a plume of particles from the active mesh nebulizer, and delivery of the plume of particles into the lungs of a patient during an inhalation process.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2020Date of Patent: June 21, 2022Assignee: BN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES, INC.Inventors: Donald M. Pell, Paula Pell, Michael Spuza, Govindan Nair

Patent number: 11344686Abstract: A method of treating respiratory system tissue, includes operations of generating a plume of particles of a treating solution from a nebulizer, inhaling particles of the treating solution, delaying exhalation of an inhalation having particles of the treating solution therein, and determining whether a dose of the treating solution has been delivered, wherein the treating solution is a solution of at least 40% ethyl alcohol, by volume.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2020Date of Patent: May 31, 2022Assignee: BN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES, INC.Inventors: Donald M. Pell, Frank Caiazzo, Paula Pell, Govindan P. Nair, Michael P. Spuza

Patent number: 11135379Abstract: A method of delivering a medication or a pharmaceutical product to a patient includes operations of activating an active mesh of an active mesh nebulizer, the active mesh being in contact with a liquid formulation of the medication, and configured to generate a plume of particles having a particle diameter between 1 and 6 micrometers, directing the plume of particles to a mouth of a patient during an inhalation by a patient; and stopping the plume of particles during the inhalation by the patient such that a substantial majority, or nearly all, of the plume of particles is inhaled by the patient.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2019Date of Patent: October 5, 2021Assignee: BN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES, INC.Inventors: Donald M. Pell, Paula Pell, Michael Spuza, Govindan Nair

Patent number: 10809160Abstract: An endotracheal tube sound device is presented having a sound bead connected to the distal end of a wire. A retaining piece is affixed to the wire adjacent to the sound bead. A handle is connected to the proximal end of the wire. Using this device, the sound bead may be inserted into an endotracheal tube to determine if the endotracheal tube is deformed and then removed from the endotracheal tube by pulling on the handle.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2019Date of Patent: October 20, 2020Assignee: BN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES, INC.Inventors: Donald M. Pell, Mark Hoyt

Patent number: 10729648Abstract: An active mesh nebulizer is used to generate a distribution of liquid particles or droplets having a diameter ranging from about 0.5 to about 5 micrometers (?m). Delivery and ingestion, by inhalation, of ethyl alcohol solution particles leads to rapid uptake of the alcohol solution by brain tissue, and avoids damage to the liver, gastrointestinal tract, and/or peripheral nervous system consistent with drinking ethyl alcohol. A brain effect of ethyl alcohol absorbed through alveoli in the lung occurs within less than 60 seconds, and body effects of alcohol consumption are reduced or eliminated. Delivery of ethyl alcohol to a user by absorption through alveoli provides a user with a brain effect while allowing tissue damage from drinking alcohol to heal. A lock out barcoded capsule containing ethyl alcohol, tethered to a smartphone application, prevents unauthorized use by non-designated users, or abuse by a designated user.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2018Date of Patent: August 4, 2020Assignee: BN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES, INC.Inventors: Donald M.
