Abstract: A ferromagnetic/ferroelectric heterostructure thin film is disclosed that exhibits significant magneto-electric coupling. The ferromagnetic/ferroelectric heterostructure thin film includes a) a base layer of silicon substrate, b) a first copper layer deposited on the silicon substrate, c) a first iron layer deposited on the copper layer, d) first aluminum layer deposited on the first iron layer, e) a polymer layer exhibiting ferroelectric properties deposited on the first aluminum layer, f) a second aluminum layer deposited on the polymer layer; g) a second iron layer deposited on the second aluminum layer, and h) a second copper layer deposited on the second iron layer.

Abstract: A method and a device are disclosed for an electronic neuron emulator for representing both passive and active electrical properties of a live neuron. The currents used to generate action potentials are derived from a pre-charged capacitor. The present invention provides for a more physiological state for testing neuroscience instruments such as the single-electrode voltage clamp and the patch clamp. The device can also include multiple pre-charged capacitors to represent ionic channels with more accurate physiologically parameters.

Abstract: A data recovery system is disclosed that permits recovery of data in a computer memory. The system includes an update storage system, a long-term storage system, a coupling functional circuit, and a parity register. The update storage system is for providing backup storage of recently updated data. The long-term storage system is for providing backup storage of data that has not been recently updated. The coupling functional circuit is for providing a bit-wise commutative binary operation of data from the update storage system and from the long term storage system. The parity register is for maintaining parity snapshots of the output of the coupling functional circuit.
