Abstract: The invention discloses a sheet processing machine with an alignment plate at the input. The sheets are piled against the plate, and during each machine cycle, the bottommost sheet is extracted and delivered to a gripper bar of the machine. The alignment plate can move precisely longitudinally and diagonally to adjust the position and the skew of the sheet for correct positioning in the gripper bar. The alignment plate is guaranteed to be kept vertical by using a pair of synchronized linear actuators on each side of the plate. The machine can adapt to varying sheet thickness by adjusting the gap below that plate thanks to a motorized gauge. To even better position the sheets, a set of abutments is provided after the plate, and at a fixed distance to the plate. The abutments are pivoting to get out of the way of the gripper bar when needed.

  • Patent number: 12319050
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of aligning a plurality of printed motifs on a sheet (3) in a converting machine (10). An actual position (Pa_1) at a first sensor is defined as an initial reference position (P_ref1) for the sheet, and at least one displacement error (?d2) is calculated and compared to a first threshold (T1). If the displacement error is lower than the first threshold, then the angular position (?) of a printing cylinder (42) in the second flexographic printing unit (16b) is adjusted. However, if the error is higher than the first threshold, then at least part of the of the displacement error (?d_2) is corrected by modifying the speed (V) of a vacuum transfer unit located between the first printing unit and the second printing unit.

  • Patent number: 12263671
Abstract: This invention discloses an ink dispensing system for a printer using the nip area between the inking cylinder and the gravure/anilox cylinder as the sole source of inking. Our solution solves the problem of reducing the amount of ink present in the inking buffer, i.e. the nip area, of such printing machines, thereby accelerating the reaction time of an ink replacement and reducing the amount of waste and the cleaning time. The idea behind the invention is to provide ink to the nip area at selected locations when needed by using a dispensing apparatus that moves along the nip area.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a method (34) for controlling a drying procedure of a printed product and an industrial printing machine (10). The printed product is manufactured by the industrial printing machine (10). An image to be printed is split into several image cells. For each image cell a total amount of ink to be used and an average lightness value of the ink to be printed within the respective image cell are determined. For each image cell a cell-dependent amount of infrared radiation to be applied for drying the ink to be used within the respective image cell is determined based on the total amount of ink to be used and the average lightness value determined in view of the respective image cell. A mixture of the drying procedure to be applied for drying the ink to be used within the image to be printed is determined based at least on the cell-dependent amounts of infrared radiation to be applied and a moving speed of the printed product.
