  • Patent number: 5354170
Abstract: A device for building up a stack of perfectly aligned packing box blanks and turning the stack consists of four movable stores angularly arranged on a rotary support for movement between four succeeding stations. The rotary support effects a 90.degree. stop-and-go rotation. In the first station, the stack is built-up with blanks provided by a first conveyor; in the second station, the stack is subjected to an aligning action on its side due to a 90.degree. rotation of the store; and in the third station the stack of blanks is, again, in a flat position but inversed with regard to the position of the first station to be removed by a second conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5241483
Abstract: During, for example, package production, printed sheets are carried by gripper bars through a cutting station of a machine. Front waste strips are removed from the printed sheets and are carried to an ejection device, but before reaching the ejection device, a camera and flash scanning unit scans the area of the front waste strip which has been marked with color registration marks and also includes at least a portion of a cut edge. An image processing unit compares this sample image to a reference image to conduct a quality check on the precision of the printing and cutting registration.

  • Patent number: 5224423
Abstract: For fitting an offset printing plate on a plate cylinder, both ends of the plate are provided with a bent end portion designed for being hooked onto a wall of a groove formed in the cylinder. The distance along the plate extending between two bending lines of the bent end portions is less than the distance, in the wrap-around direction of the plate on the cylinder, between the two walls of the groove. A first bent end portion is held into the groove, the plate is wrapped around the plate cylinder with a second end portion held proximate to the groove, the plate is subjected to thermal lengthening until the second end portion is aligned with, and can be inserted into, the groove. The end portions are strategically bent to cause a spring locking action when both are thusly inserted into the groove.

  • Patent number: 5163667
Abstract: A suction table which, in a machine converting sheets into package, transfers the last, lowermost sheet of a batch to a subsequent processing station. The table is provided with numerous blowing and sucking nozzles and is fitted on a hollow frame movable with regard to a fixed distributory housing which provides sucking and blowing action. The housing comprises a distributory shaft and tubes movable with respect to the table and thereby sliding within corresponding guides formed in the frame. The shaft and tubes are provided with cooperating ducts which will allow the nozzles to suck or blow as required by the angular position of the distributory shaft and the position of the table.

  • Patent number: 4541828
Abstract: A tool support having an arrangement for centering and fixing a tool and a rectangular frame characterized by a pair of pressing members mounted on adjacent sides of the frame and an arrangement to urge the pressing members away from their adjacent frame members so that a tool is moved diagonally toward an opposite corner of the frame. Preferably, one of the pressing members has a slanted plane end surface forming a cam surface which is engaged by a roller mounted on the other pressing member so that movement of the other pressing member is transferred to the one pressing member. The mounting arrangement also includes a tightening arrangement to bias the pressing members away from the adjacent side members of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4332124
Abstract: A device for delivering and packaging folded boxes, which are folded and glued in a folder-gluer, comprises a first conveyor for receiving a flow of folded boxes in an overlapping shingled relationship for a delivery station and conveying the flow of boxes without changing any lateral position of the boxes to a second conveyor at which the flow is converted into a stack-like flow moving in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the folded boxes. The second conveyor terminates in a filling device and a coacting intermittently driven roller. A third conveyor for introducing the positioning packaging containers is disposed beneath the second conveyor and is mounted for movement both transverse and along the direction of movement of the second conveyor and vertically thereto. The device also includes a removing conveyor which comprises a roller conveyor mounted for movement between a level position to a slant position to enable ejecting a filled container from the device by gravity.

  • Patent number: 4266864
Abstract: The character disc of the photocomposing machine has a "sandwich" construction in which the characters are located close to one another on a piece of film which is "sandwiched" between two glass plates. The thickness of this construction is such that the mask would have to be located very precisely in order to select only one character. The mask device consists of a pair of shields, a front shield located between the flash lamp and the spinning disc character matrix, and a rear shield between the matrix and the character magnification lens system. Preferably, the shields are close to the matrix and are fastened together. Each shield has an aperture. The aperture in the front shield preferably is larger than that in the rear shield so that the rear shield blocks rays missed by the front shield. The use of the two shields greatly reduces the precision required in the location of the mask over that required if only one shield were used.
