  • Patent number: 10292553
Abstract: A mopping extension attachable to a robotic vacuum. The mopping extension comprising, at minimum, a frame, a cloth, and a mechanism to secure the frame to the body of the robotic vacuum. The mopping extension may be installed in a dedicated compartment within the robotic vacuum body such that the cloth is dragged along the work surface as the robotic vacuum travels through the work area. In some embodiments, the mopping extension further comprises a means to automatically dampen the cloth to further improve cleaning efficiency. In some embodiments, the mopping extension further comprises means to move the mopping extension back and forth during operation to further improve cleaning efficiency. In some embodiments, the mopping extension further comprises a means to disengage and engage the mopping extension as the robotic vacuum is working.

  • Patent number: 9901234
Abstract: A method for increasing the rate of debris collection of a robotic vacuum through increasing the number of times a robotic vacuum's cleaning apparatus passes over a work surface during each pass of the device. The device's main cleaning apparatus is installed on a plate that rotates within the housing of the device. The drive unit is housed separately from the rotating plate so that the device's normal movement patterns will be uninterrupted by the rotation of the cleaning apparatus. Ideally, the cleaning apparatus will be caused to rotate two or more times over an area before the robotic vacuum has driven completely through the area.

  • Patent number: 9764472
Abstract: Methods for automated robotic movement for a robotic device using an electronic computing device are presented, the methods including: causing the electronic computing device to establish a working zone; measuring distances to all obstacles in the working zone thereby detecting all obstacles in the working zone; establishing a coverage path that accounts for all detected obstacles; executing the coverage path such the robotic device covers the working zone at least once; if a new obstacle is detected, establishing an adapted coverage path that accounts for the new obstacle; and executing the adapted coverage path. In some embodiments, methods further include: bypassing the new obstacle; and returning to the coverage path.

  • Patent number: 9764473
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a system and/or method to create or otherwise define one or more virtual barriers for confining or controlling an autonomous robotic device substantially within one or more portion of one or more selected working areas, for example, to prohibit entrance of certain areas. The system and/or method may use a set of beacon transmitters that emit time-stamped signals, which are received by one or more robots and used to calculate the robotic device's distance from such beacons.

  • Patent number: 9532688
Abstract: A spherical or ovoid design for a robotic vacuum in which the housing of the vacuum also serves as the means by which the device moves. Steering of the device is controlled by adjusting the center of gravity within the housing. Perforations in the housing allow debris to be vacuumed into the device.

  • Patent number: 9521934
Abstract: A robotic vacuum wherein the housing of the system is cylindrical in form with two wheels of diameter larger than the diameter of the housing supporting the housing on either end. Larger wheels permit the device to more easily travel over small bumps or obstacles and changes in elevation. Furthermore, the design requires less power to drive the housing, so more energy is available for the primary function of vacuuming.

  • Publication number: 20150313438
Abstract: A method for an automated robotic wheeled device to overcome small obstacles, such as flooring thresholds, comprising a set of auxiliary ellipsoid or oval wheels that are engaged when the device detects that it is obstructed from moving forward. When the oval wheels are engaged, they turn and propel the device forward and upward so that it can effectively move over obstacles that would normally be too tall for the device to overcome.
