Abstract: An apparatus configured for cooperative employment with an installed airborne application control system in an aircraft includes: an application control unit coupled with the application control system for cooperating with the airborne application control system to effect control of at least one second airborne application. The application control unit includes a respective application management section for participating in management of each respective second airborne application of the at least one second airborne application.

Abstract: A system for conveying a gate assignment at an airfield to an air crew in an aircraft includes: (a) a ground station; (b) a mobile station carried with the aircraft and configured for communicative coupling with the ground station; and (c) a display unit carried with the aircraft and coupled with the mobile station. The ground station transmits the gate assignment to the mobile station. The display unit receives the gate assignment from the mobile station and presents a graphic representation of the gate assignment to the air crew.

Abstract: A method for effecting synchronized operation of an application by a plurality of processing units, each processing unit may include an application processing section coupled with an own data store and a communication section coupled for communications with other processing units, includes: (a) operating each processing unit to store data relating to the operation of the application in its own data store; (b) recognizing a processing unit experiencing an anomalous event disruptive of data as a needy processing unit; and (c) when the anomalous event is past, operating the needy processing unit to effect access to all other data stores than its own data store to obtain updated data. The access may be effected by the needy processing unit operating as a subscriber unit communicating with respect to the other data store operating as a publisher unit.

Abstract: A method for administering object-based multi-level security in a service oriented architecture includes: (a) defining a plurality of multi-level security attributes for each of selected respective life-cycle states of a plurality of life-cycle states of a service object; (b) receiving a request from a requestor for the service object; (c) determining permitted actions for the service object based upon at least one selected multi-level security attribute of the plurality of multi-level security attributes, and based upon at least one life-cycle state of the plurality of life-cycle states of the service object; and (d) generating a quality of service security contract based upon the determination of permitted actions.
