Abstract: A method and apparatus conveys solid particles from a supply device to a charging device for charging free-flowing cutting jets. Positive charging of the cutting jets even when located at a greater or remote distance from the supply device is ensured. To that end, the solid particles are transported in a closed circuit between the supply device and a charging or intermediate storage device and the momentarily required partial quantity of solid particles needed for charging the cutting jet is removed from the closed circuit.
Abstract: The invention concerns a cold-worked steel of high compressive strength for tools and parts simultaneously subjected to several stresses. The steel of the invention evinces a composition in % by weight ofC: 0.6 to 1.5Si: 0.2 to 1.6Mn: 0.2 to 1.2Cr: 5.0 to 10.0Mo: up to 3.0W: up to 6.0(Mo+2W): 1.0 to 3.0V: 0.3 to 1.5Al: 0.2 to 1.6Nb: up to 0.5N: up to 0.1the remainder being iron and process-entailed contaminations, and it is especially provided for tools and parts comprising an anti-wear layer made at higher temperature.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a titanium alloy, wherein a melted and possibly preformed part is annealed to set the starting grain structure, wherewith a first grain structure transformation is accomplished by a first cooling step, whereafter high dislocation densities are produced in the course of a hot forming step, whereupon heat treatment involving a recrystallization is carried out, wherewith in the course of a subsequent cooling a predominantly or substantially martensitic breakdown is achieved, wherewith a grain structure transformation is carried out in a subsequent annealing process, and wherewith in the course of a subsequent chilling a fine grain structure is set. At least the first cooling step is accomplished by spraying the preformed part with water and/or water-air mixtures. A spray device may be used for carrying out the method.
