  • Patent number: 5174722
Abstract: A safety shutdown circuit for a pneumatic pump system. The pump system includes a manifold assembly for discharging pumped liquid. The liquid is discharged from the system by a reciprocating piston apparatus which drives a liquid pump cylinder. The pump system is provided with a pneumatic safety circuit for monitoring the stroke time or rate of the reciprocating air cylinder. The safety circuit includes a safety shutdown valve and a pneumatic timer associated with the shutdown valve. The pneumatic timer vents air supply within the safety circuit after a predetermined time interval. If a leak or failure occurs in the pump system, the reciprocating piston apparatus will complete a stroke in less time than the predetermined time as a result of the pressure loss incident to the leak or failure. In such event, the air supply within the safety circuit is directed through the shutdown valve to the pump system START valve to deactivate the system.

  • Patent number: 4850094
Abstract: A method and apparatus for mounting a linear structure actuator gate opener to a gate and fence. The method comprises the steps of selectively positioning a gate bracket so that the gate bracket is at a predetermined distance relative to a hinge member intermediate to the gate and fence, securing the gate bracket to the gate in the selected position for the gate bracket, pivotally mounting a linear actuator to the first bracket, pivoting the linear actuator so that the actuator is at a predetermined distance relative to the hinge member, pivotally mounting the actuator to a fence bracket, and securing the fence bracket to the fence or gate post to which the gate is hingedly connected. A gate bracket and fence bracket are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4638597
Abstract: A modular gate opening apparatus comprising a mounting frame which can be used to buttress a deteriorated fence post or secured to a new fence post. A vertical portion of the frame comprises a plurality of apertures in axial alignment allowing a wide variety of fastening means to be used to secure the frame in a number of configurations. A gate-receiving bracket is hingedly secured to the frame and is adapted to accomodate a wide variety of gate sizes. Actuator means are provided to move the gate receiving bracket, and the gate carried thereon, between an open and a closed position.

  • Patent number: 4416085
Abstract: The present invention is for an automatic gate opening device where commercial electricity is not economically available. A hydraulic cylinder operated by a bidirectional gear pump moves a cylinder rod which connects to an opening rod. The opening rod is pivotally connected to one end to the gate and on the other end to a stationary location. Due to pivotal connections and a pivotal linkage near the middle of the opening rod, the gate may be opened and closed by the hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic cylinder is also pivotally mounted. Electronic controls may be operated by a number of different type sensors, including limit switches on the hydraulic cylinder, sensors for detecting the gate location, manual switches or other traditional vehicle approach sensors. Power is provided by a storage battery, which battery can be recharged during daylight hours at a solar panel or by a traditional battery charger.
