Abstract: A method for starting an internal combustion engine (ICE) having a crankshaft and an electric turning machine (ETM) operatively connected to the crankshaft comprises energizing an absolute position sensor adapted for providing an indication of an angular position of a rotor of the ETM and applying a current to the ETM to generate a sufficient torque to rotate the crankshaft.

Abstract: A personal watercraft hull has a bow, a keel, starboard and port upper edges, a starboard portion extending between the keel and the starboard upper edge, a port portion extending between the keel and the starboard upper edge, and a transom. The starboard portion has a starboard row of grooves. The port portion has a port row of grooves. The rows of grooves extend in a longitudinal direction and are laterally offset from the longitudinal centerline and from their corresponding upper edge. The grooves of the rows of grooves define recesses in an outer surface of the hull. A personal watercraft having the personal watercraft hull is also disclosed.

Abstract: A mirror assembly for a handlebar of a vehicle has a stem assembly and a mirror connect to the stem assembly. The stem assembly includes a base, a stem connected to the base, and a clamp connected to and extending from the base. The clamp is adapted for being disposed inside a handle of the handlebar. The base, the stem and the clamp are integral. The clamp defines a ramp. A threaded fastener inserted through the base and extends in part in the clamp. A nut engages the threaded fastener, and at least a portion of the nut abuts the clamp. Translating the nut toward the base by rotating the fastener causes the nut to move over the ramp thereby deflecting the ramp.

Abstract: A watercraft includes: a central frame; a deck supported by the central frame; and first and second lateral hulls laterally spaced apart from one another, the central frame being disposed at least in part laterally between the first and second lateral hulls. Each of the lateral hulls includes: a plurality of lower hull panels mounted to the central frame, at least part of an outer surface of each lower hull panel forming a running surface of the watercraft; a plurality of braces connected between the central frame, the plurality of lower hull panels and the deck; and at least one buoyant element received in and substantially filling a space defined between the lower hull panels and the deck. Each brace includes: an inner mount connected to the central frame, a lower mount connected to at least one lower hull panel, and an upper mount connected to the deck.

Abstract: A drive pulley for a continuously variable transmission comprising a fixed sheave having a first sheave face, a movable sheave axially movable relative to the fixed sheave along an axis of rotation of the continuously variable transmission, the movable sheave having a second sheave face, the fixed sheave and the movable sheave rotating about the axis of rotation and a separation measured at a constant radial distance from the axis of rotation along an axial direction between the first sheave face and the second sheave face, the separation varying around the axis of rotation.

Abstract: A snowmobile has a two-stroke engine having an electronic reverse function so that a crankshaft can be selectively rotated in forward and reverse rotation directions. A gearbox has a first shaft coupled to a countershaft, a second shaft extending parallel to the first shaft, first transmission gears mounted to the first shaft and second transmission gears mounted to the second shaft. The first transmission gears are in constant mesh with the second transmission gears to form high and low gear pairings. A shifter is operable for selectively operating the gearbox in one of a high gear, a low gear and a neutral gear. The engine is selectively operable in the forward and reverse rotation directions while the gearbox is operated in at least one of the high gear, the low gear and the neutral gear.

Abstract: An electric turning machine (ETM) operatively connected to an internal combustion engine (ICE) is operated as a motor with a first control strategy and as a generator with a second control strategy. In the first control strategy, electric power is delivered from a power source to the ETM selectively through at least one transistor of an electrical converter. After switching from the first control strategy to the second control strategy, the ETM delivers electric power to an accessory selectively through the at least one transistor of the electrical converter.

Abstract: A drive pulley for a continuously variable transmission (CVT) has a pulley shaft with a fixed sheave, a movable sheave and a back plate thereon. The movable sheave has a movable sheave surface with first and second surface portions that faces the back plate. A biasing member biases the sheaves away from each other. A slider is disposed between the back plate and the movable sheave. The slider has a flat engagement zone surface, and a curved driving zone surface extending outward from the engagement zone surface. From rest, as the pulley shaft accelerates, the engagement zone surface of the slider slides radially outward against the first portion of the movable sheave surface and then the driving zone surface of the slider slides radially outward against the second portion of the movable sheave thereby pushing the movable sheave toward the fixed sheave. A vehicle having the CVT is also disclosed.

The CVT 5 has a CVT housing. The air intake assembly has at least one air intake assembly inlet, at least one first air intake assembly aperture and at least one second air intake assembly aperture. The at least one first air intake assembly aperture fluidly communicates with at least one air intake port of the engine. The at least one second air intake assembly aperture fluidly communicates with an interior of the CVT housing.

First and second helmet electrical contacts are attached at both sides of the helmet and are adapted for electrically connecting to an electrical power source. First and second visor electrical contacts are attached to each side of the visor and are electrically connected to the electrical device. The first and second visor electrical contacts are pivotally connected to the helmet shell about first and second pivot axes respectively. The first and second visor electrical contacts are in contact with the first and second helmet electrical contacts respectively, at at least one position of the pivoting visor.

Abstract: A limited slip differential (LSD) is mounted on a driven axle of a vehicle to drive left and right wheels. To control the LSD, a speed of the vehicle is determined. A value of a preload for application to the LSD is also determined. The value of the preload is based on a predicted engine torque and on the speed of the vehicle. A preload is applied to the LSD when the value of the preload is greater than zero.

Abstract: A vehicle has an engine, an accelerator control, a limited slip differential (LSD) mounted on an axle driven by the engine, and left and right wheels operably connected to the LSD. An accelerator control position is sensed. A speed of the vehicle is optionally sensed. In order to prevent wheel spin, a high load is selectively applied to the LSD when the accelerator control position meets or exceeds a predetermined position threshold. Optionally, application of the high load may depend on the speed of the vehicle being less than a predetermined speed threshold, the accelerator control position concurrently meeting or exceeding the predetermined position threshold. In order to enhance directional stability of the vehicle, a stabilization load is optionally applied when the speed of the vehicle meets or exceeds the predetermined speed threshold.

Abstract: A vehicle comprises a chassis, a seat, a motor, an endless drive track, and a rear suspension assembly supporting the endless drive track. The rear suspension assembly includes a left slide and right slide rail, at least one rear suspension arm being operatively pivotally connected to one of the slide rails and the chassis, with at least one coupling block being connected thereto. A rear stopper is connected to one of the slide rails, the rear stopper being disposed within a range of motion of the at least one coupling block in a first position and being disposed out of the range of motion of the at least one coupling block in a second position. The vehicle includes a control cable and an actuator, the rear stopper moving between the first and second positions when moving the actuator between first and second actuator positions.

Abstract: A storage box assembly for a vehicle includes a box having an upper portion having a first bottom wall and first side walls, the first bottom wall having an inner periphery and an outer periphery. The box further has a lower portion having a second bottom wall and second side walls. A first interior volume of the upper portion communicates with a second interior volume of the lower portion. The storage box assembly further includes at least one anchor mounted to the box for selectively securing the storage box assembly to the vehicle. The at least one anchor is disposed within the outer periphery of the first bottom wall, and has a bottom surface being vertically spaced from a lower surface of the second bottom wall and being disposed between the upper end of the first side walls and the second bottom wall.
