  • Patent number: 7883621
Abstract: According to the invention, the filter is fixed to the engine block by screwing it to an attached connecting sleeve. The connecting sleeve contains a bypass valve, in the form of a tubular piston sliding in a through-passage and pushed against an intermediate shoulder by a spring. By sliding, the piston opens or closes a radial passage establishing direct communication between the inlet passage and the through-passage of the device. If the filter element of the filter is clogged, the pressure rise in the inlet passage causes the piston to move and the radial passage to open to reduce the pressure rise and ensure a satisfactory flow of oil. This reduces pressure rises upstream of the filter and ensures sufficient lubrication of the engine even in the case of clogging of the filter.

  • Patent number: 7559296
Abstract: The internal combustion engine piston cooling sprayer comprises a sprayer body (1) with an axial through-passage (12) in which is fixed a tubular guide liner (4). The tubular guide liner (4) is fixed in the sprayer body (1) by its downstream section (4c), while its upstream section (4b) remains away from the wall of the axial through-passage (12), to allow the cooling fluid to flow. A valve (2) slides in an axial through-passage of the tubular guide liner (4), and is urged by a return spring (3) toward a main seat formed in the mass of the sprayer body (1). This produces a compact and reliable sprayer of relatively low cost.

  • Patent number: 7360510
Abstract: A cooling system comprises at least one common feed manifold carrying a series of nozzles and forming a mechanically rigid assembly, with fixing means for fixing in the engine and with hydraulic connection means for making a hydraulic connection to a feed circuit in the engine. The mechanically rigid assembly is fixed into the engine block from the lower face thereof, the fixing lugs being fixed to easily accessible regions of the engine block before fitting the crankcase. The connection means are fixed into the crankcase and connected to the outlet of the oil filter by a common valve. An internal combustion engine piston cooling system may therefore be fitted without having to modify the structure of the engine block.

  • Patent number: 7350484
Abstract: Device to feed cooling and lubricating fluid to cooling and lubricating nozzles for the pistons of an internal combustion engine, having at least one valve with an upstream channel and a downstream channel, said valve having a blocking element able to move in a compartment to block an opening of a seat. The valve responds to the pressure of the cooling fluid by opening when the upstream pressure is greater than a threshold pressure and closing when the upstream pressure is less than the threshold pressure. A means of calibrated leakage connects the upstream channel to the downstream channel in parallel with the zone of closure of the valve.

  • Patent number: 7104225
Abstract: According to the invention, an internal combustion engine piston cooling nozzle comprises a nozzle body, a transverse fixing plate and screwing means such as a fixing screw offset laterally at a distance between axes. The nozzle body comprises an axial bore containing valve means and a transverse bore receiving a cooling fluid outlet duct. The peripheral wall is thick around the transverse bore. The diametrally opposite portion of the peripheral wall is thinner because of the presence of an external recess facing the fixing screw. Thus the fixing screw may be moved closer, by reducing the distance between axes, which reduces the overall size of the cooling nozzle.
