Abstract: A chew toy for dogs formed of a length of composite rope having an inner core defined by one or more strands of twisted threads of natural plant or synthetic fibers such as sisal or nylon, and a soft outer shell defined by a plurality of strands of soft pliable cotton threads which are twisted about the inner core. The inner core is less water absorbent that the outer shell to promote drying of toy when wetted with the dog's saliva to inhibit bacteria growth in the toy. In the preferred configuration of the chew toy, the core fibers are frangible and a pair of knots are formed in the composite rope proximate the extended ends thereof to prevent the rope from unraveling and securing the core within the cotton shell.

Abstract: A chew toy for dogs comprised of a plurality of strands of soft pliable threads twisted about one or more strands of twisted or synthetic fibers so as to substantially encase and retain the fibers within the pliable threads. The twisted fibers are impregnated with one or more therapeutic dental agents such as fluoride and/or a breath freshening or flavoring agent so as to dispose the agent or agents within and along the length of the chew toy. Upon being chewed by a dog, the strands of soft pliable threads will provide a cleaning of the dog's teeth and a massaging of its gums and a portion of the impregnated agent or agents will be released onto the teeth and gums of the dog.

Abstract: A chew toy for dogs comprises a plurality of threads of soft pliable material having a knot tightly formed therein and a skirt of a soft durable material disposed about a portion of the threads. The skirt is secured within the knot with the threads disposed throughout the skirt and projecting therefrom. The skirt is closed about the threads so as to secure the threads in place within the skirt. A second portion of the threads projects from the knot on a side thereof opposite from the skirt.

Abstract: A chew toy for dogs comprising a length of cotton rope formed of a plurality of cotton threads impregnated with fluoride particles so as to dispose the fluoride particles throughout the toy such that the cotton rope provides a gentle cleaning and flossing of the dog's teeth and massaging of the dog's gums when chewed and contains the fluoride for gradual release as the fluoride combines with the saliva on the teeth of the dog as the dog chews and/or tugs on the toy to prevent tooth decay. The fluoride particles are applied to the individual cotton fibers prior to forming the fibers into the length of rope to provide the desired fluoride distribution throughout the toy.

Abstract: An adjustable and stable cotton bird perch for use in a bird cage is comprised of a plurality of tightly twisted skeins of cotton threads defining a dense cotton cable. The cable has attachment members secured to the ends thereof for securing the cable to the sides of the bird cage. The formed cotton cable has a density of about fifty to seventy percent greater than conventional cotton rope so as to render the cable sufficiently flexible to be readily formed into a plurality of different set configurations and sufficiently rigid so as to retain a set configuration without the need for additional support intermediary of its ends. By varying the configuration of the cable, a wide variety of stable cotton bird perch configurations can be readily provided within the cage.

Abstract: A therapeutic chew toy particularly adapted for dogs includes a shaft portion formed of a length of a soft rope material and a pair of plastic end members secured to the ends of the shaft portion such that upon being chewed by an animal, the shaft portion provides teeth cleaning and gum massage and the plastic end members provide teeth and jaw development.
