  • Patent number: 4526572
Abstract: A connector for medical tubing comprises two interengaging parts (1, 12). As one part is rotated relative to the other, screw-threads cause a tapered projection (13) to mate with a flared bore (6) to provide a fluid-tight seal. Further relative rotation causes the outer bevelled edge of the outer wall (16) of one of the parts to move further forward to sealingly engage the sloping wall (10) of the other part. The projection (13) and outer wall (16) are connected by a flexible membrane 19 to permit this further forward movement. The connector is particularly suited for use in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.

  • Patent number: 4501727
Abstract: The N-methyl-D-glucamine salt of (+)-2-(2-fluoro-4-biphenylyl)propionic acid, which is a novel compound with analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties and which is useful for treating inflammatory conditions including rheumatic disorders and as an analgesic. Pharmaceutical compositions containing the novel salt are also described. Also described are methods for preparing the novel salt by direct salification in an aqueous or non-aqueous medium, for example isopropanol, aqueous tetrahydrofuran, bis(methoxyethyl) ether and 4-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one. Isopropanol is especially preferred.

  • Patent number: 4492316
Abstract: A dispenser of dispensing tabets one at a time has a reservoir, a chamber below the reservoir in which the tablets are arranged in a single layer and a dispensing passageway which leads to a dispensing orifice. The passageway is of such a width that a single column of tablets can be accommodated. The passageway is defined by portions of a moving slider member and can be moved from a non-dispensing position to a dispensing position. In this latter position the lowermost tablet is dispensed whereas the remaining tablets in the column are retained in the passageway by a fixed protuberance. One side of the passageway is resilient to minimize tablet damage. The slider member is adapted to assist the passage of tablets from the reservoir to the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4415944
Abstract: An earth proving device which includes a solid state relay employing a light emitting diode and photoconductor pair operating on low current/low voltage. Operation of the solid state relay is followed by operation of electromagnetically-operable switches which control electrical connections of a power supply to an electrically-operated apparatus to allow passage of a higher current therethrough. Thus, the earth proving device protects the apparatus by first providing indications of the state of the circuit and earth connections to the apparatus with a low current/low voltage sensing signal before the application of power level current and voltage thereto.
