  • Patent number: 11261765
Abstract: A control valve assembly of a variable cam timing phaser of a variable cam timing system, with the variable cam timing phaser including a housing and a rotor, and with the variable cam timing system including a camshaft, includes a valve housing extending along an axis. The valve housing includes a threaded portion adapted to engage the camshaft, and a body portion spaced axially from the threaded portion. The body portion defines a body interior. The control valve assembly also includes a piston disposed in the body interior and moveable along the axis between a first position and a second position. The control valve assembly further includes a cap removably coupled to the body portion of the valve housing. The cap includes a torque driving element configured to be received by a tool for transmitting torque from the tool for fixing the cap to the body portion.

  • Publication number: 20150136557
Abstract: A freewheel arrangement having a freewheel, which comprises an inner ring, an outer ring rotatable in a first direction of rotation relative to the inner ring, and clamping elements between the inner ring and the outer ring, which prevent a rotation of the outer ring relative to the inner ring in a second direction of rotation. The outer ring and the inner ring and the clamping elements may be formed as a stamped sheet metal part.

  • Publication number: 20130237352
Abstract: A transmission mechanism with a pair of selectively engageable clutch systems is disclosed that has an upstream gear ratio and a downstream gear ratio that combine to provide an effective gear ratio. A different clutch drive member is associated with an input side of each of the pair of clutch systems. The clutch drive members are driven for rotation by an engine input member. The upstream gear ratio is determined by the gear ratio between the engine input member and one of the clutch drive members. Output sides of each of the clutch systems drive an associated one of a pair of non-coaxial layshafts. Pinions are located on and selectively driven by the layshafts. A countershaft is spaced from both of the layshafts, and has a plurality of gears. Each of the gears is driven for rotation by one of the pinions of the layshafts. The downstream gear ratio is determined by the gear ratio between the selected pinion and the intermeshed gear.

  • Publication number: 20120025690
Abstract: The invention describes a spark plug, which comprises an inner conductor, an insulator enclosing the inner conductor, a spark plug body enclosing the insulator and two electrodes forming a spark gap. The first electrode is a center electrode connected to the inner conductor in an electrically conductive manner and the second electrode is a ground electrode connected to the spark plug body in an electrically conductive manner. At least one of the electrodes has a precious metal region, adjoining the spark gap and consisting predominantly of platinum, iridium or an alloy of both and containing additionally at least one brittle metal. The precious metal region consists of a base material predominantly containing platinum and/or iridium, which comprises a coating with a brittle metal, which is more brittle than the base material.

  • Publication number: 20100288592
Abstract: The present disclosure sets forth a one-way clutch. The one-way clutch can function with one or no races as opposed to conventional prior art one-way clutches. In so doing, the overall size and weight requirements of the one-way clutch are drastically reduced, which in turn drastically reduces the overall size and weight requirements of the transmission and vehicle employing the transmission as well. The present disclosure also provides a one-way clutch having an outer race provided by axially spaced plates. An inner race is rotatably mounted with respect to one of the plates and the inner race has a ratchet surface. Ratchet pawls are pivotably mounted with respect to the plates and have unidirectional engagement with the ratchet surface of the inner race. In addition to reducing material and labor production costs, such lessened size and weight penalties translate into higher transmission efficiency and better vehicle fuel economy.

  • Publication number: 20100092297
Abstract: A synergistic blade and hub structure for a cooling fan. Helical gussets are provided which proceed from the central hub member adjacent one blade member to the trailing edge of an adjacent blade member. The helical gussets provide structural load paths as well as aerodynamic flow guides. The helical gussets extend axially rearwardly to the trailing edges of preceding blade members and provide structural attachments between the leading and trailing edges of adjacent blade members. Hollow triangular structures are also provided on the rear of the fan structure and the triangulation area provides superior stiffness.
