  • Patent number: 6142014
Abstract: Known devices for measuring the mass of a flowing medium, or flow rate meters, have a measurement element accommodated in a measurement stub, and a flow rectifier with a grid is provided upstream of the measurement element. For easy production and assembly and accurate alignment of a grid (21) with a flow rectifier (20) of the device (1), the grid (21) has integrally formed-on spring elements (30), which deform elastically when the flow rectifier (20) is installed so that by their spring force, in combination with a detent connection (33, 35) provided on the flow rectifier (20), they durably retain the flow rectifier (20) and the grid (21). The device is intended for measuring the mass of a flowing medium, especially for measuring the flow rate of air aspirated by internal combustion engines.

  • Patent number: 6143189
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a gelatin-coated glass panel is described. In this, gelatin is first applied onto a glass panel, then a protective layer is sputtered on through a mask placed onto the gelatin layer. After removal of the mask, the gelatin can be removed, with the aid of a dry etching method, from the regions in which it is not equipped with a protective layer. The glass panel can then easily be divided by scoring and breaking. The method makes it possible to produce, on a large-scale production basis, liquid crystal displays which have either a color filter or a black matrix made of photoemulsion.

  • Patent number: 6142107
Abstract: A fuel injection system with a common rail pressure reservoir which is filled with fuel at high pressure, and a dual substance nozzle for dual-fluid injection of fuel and a supplementary liquid into an internal combustion engine. The system includes a 2/2-way valve in the injection line between the common rail pressure reservoir and a pressure chamber surrounding the nozzle needle of the dual substance nozzle. A pressure fluid container with supplementary liquid under pressure, which via a storage valve can charge the supplementary liquid line with a respective predeterminable quantity of supplementary liquid and that in turn can be charged with supplementary liquid by means of a pump via a check valve and its internal pressure can be kept at a desired level by a pressure regulating valve. As a result, the otherwise usual, technologically substantially more complex 3/2-way magnet control valves can be replaced by a single, less expensive 2/2-way valve.

  • Patent number: 6142443
Abstract: A valve for controlling fluids which, for its actuation, is provided with a fluid-filled coupling chamber which can be brought to high pressure by virtue of the fact that the valve is disposed between an actuator piston of a piezoelectric actuator and a piston that actuates a valve member and it is used for force and path transmission. To compensate for a leakage in the coupling chamber, a filling valve is provided, which is disposed on the piston that actuates the valve member and is switched by this piston with each stroke of the device. In this manner, the coupling chamber contains a largely constant volume and can also compensate for slight fill level changes caused by temperature differences. The valve is designated for use in fuel injection devices for internal combustion engines of motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6144159
Abstract: A headlight illumination field regulating apparatus includes an electromagnetic radiation emitter, a reflected radiation sensor, an evaluation unit, and a unit for adjusting the alignment position of the headlights. The electromagnetic radiation emitter operates to radiate electromagnetic radiation on the road to the front of the automobile and the reflected radiation sensor senses reflected radiation and creates a data point representative of the irradiated spot. The evaluation unit evaluates the data points to establish the position of the detected spot or area and thereafter compares the evaluated position with a predetermined desired position and subsequently generate a correction signal to control the regulation or adjustment of the headlights into a proper light projecting orientation which ensures a proper projection limit of the beam of the headlight.

  • Patent number: 6142395
Abstract: In a fuel injection valve, after a preliminary adjustment of the valve seat support and immobilization thereof on the valve housing by way of a flanged rim, the effective stroke of the valve needle is measured, with the magnet coil energized, using an electrical displacement measurement system, and compared in the electronic control device to the reference stroke. In the event of a difference between these two values, the electronic control device activates a welding device which generates in an adjusting segment a first circumferential weld bead whose shrinkage upon cooling results in a decrease in the effective stroke. If, in a new measurement and adjustment cycle, the effective stroke still differs from the reference stroke, further weld beads are generated. The fuel injection valve is suitable particularly for the injection of fuel directly into the combustion chambers of internal combustion engines.

  • Patent number: 6144346
Abstract: An antenna arrangement which is used for transmitting and receiving radio signals includes a capacitively tunable loop, from which received radio signals can be coupled symmetrically into a receiver stage, and which has a feed-in point, at which a signal to be radiated by the loop can be split into two signals moving in opposite directions to each other and with the same potential. Outcoupling of the received signals from the loop into the receiver stage can take place inductively via a coupling loop, or capactively via outcoupling capacitors, which are connected with the loop.

  • Patent number: 6142751
Abstract: A hydraulic unit for a vehicle brake system that enables limiting wheel brake slip is known. To that end, the hydraulic unit has at least one piston pump, which is drivable by an electric motor and empties a reservoir that is filled on the occasion of the limitation of wheel brake slip. This reservoir comprises a cylinder, embodied in the manner of a blind bore, as well as a piston that divides a storage chamber from a spring chamber in the cylinder, a spring, and a closure element that prevents water from entering the cylinder if the hydraulic unit should become immersed in water. A pressure equalization conduit begins at the spring chamber and leads into the interior of the motor, so that a displacement of the piston for taking up pressure fluid in the storage chamber is effected essentially only by friction of the piston and forces of the spring. A conduit is also provided, by means of which pressure fluid that emerges from the piston pump at the eccentric can be carried away.

  • Patent number: 6144168
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for generating an a.c. voltage, in particular the operating voltage of a high-pressure gas discharge lamp in a motor vehicle headlight, includes a transformer with a primary winding and a secondary winding which are closely linked together. These two windings form an autotransformer. The primary winding is connected at one terminal to a d.c. voltage source. At its other terminal, the intermediate tap of the transformer, it is connected to the secondary winding and also to a controlled switch. The controlled switch connects the intermediate tap to the negative terminal of the d.c. voltage source. The second terminal of the secondary winding is connected across a capacitor to a high-pressure gas discharge lamp which forms the output load. Output a.c. voltage, i.e., the operating voltage, is applied across this load. The switch is damped by the series connection of a resistor and a capacitor.

  • Patent number: 6141726
Abstract: A method for modifying data to be used by a program of a data processing system, in particular a controller for controlling an assembly. The data is stored in a first memory in the form of reference data. The memory addresses of the reference data in the first memory are stored in a reference data memory address table in the first memory so that they can be accessed by the program. According to this method, the reference data memory address table is copied to a second memory in the form of a working data memory address table to be addressed by the program, and the reference data to be modified is copied to the second memory in the form of working data to be modified. Further, the working data memory address table is modified so that the memory addresses of the working data to be modified in the second memory replace the memory addresses of the reference data to be modified in the first memory, after which the working data is modified.

  • Patent number: 6139436
Abstract: A fuel injection pump having a pump-and-distributor member driven by a drive shaft via an Oldham coupling. The Oldham coupling has a cross disk with four arms protruding at right angles from one another. In each of the arms, one roller is supported rotatably as a roller body about a radial axis. On the drive disk and the eccentric disk, one pair of claws is mounted, offset from one another by 90.degree.. With these claws, the drive shaft and the eccentric disk, when the Oldham coupling is mounted, engage the interstices between the arms and the cross disk. The engagement is such that the claws each rest axially movably but practically without play on the rollers of the cross disk. In operation, the friction and noise of the Oldham coupling are reduced.
