  • Patent number: 7579206
Abstract: There are many inventions described and illustrated herein. In one aspect, the present invention is directed to a MEMS device, and technique of fabricating or manufacturing a MEMS device having mechanical structures and anchors to secure the mechanical structures to the substrate. The anchors of the present invention are comprised of a material that is relatively unaffected by the release processes of the mechanical structures. In this regard, the etch release process are selective or preferential to the material(s) securing the mechanical structures in relation to the material comprising the anchors. Moreover, the anchors of the present invention are secured to the substrate in such a manner that removal of the insulation layer has little to no affect on the anchoring of the mechanical structures to the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20090210185
Abstract: A sensor circuit enables detection of DC offset in a sensor output signal. The sensor circuit includes a sensor that generates a sensor output signal corresponding to a physical signal coupled to an input of the sensor, and a modulator that generates a modulation signal, the modulator being coupled to the sensor to modulate a physical parameter of the sensor and to enable a DC offset to be separated from the sensor output signal. To enable the circuit to measure the DC offset even though the sensor output signal is inversely proportional to the output signal, the circuit includes a feedback circuit configured to generate a feedback signal. The feedback signal is coupled to the input of the sensor to enable the physical parameter of the sensor to be modulated without modulating a portion of the sensor output signal attributable to the physical signal being converted to an electrical signal by the sensor.

  • Patent number: 7576643
Abstract: A sensor for measuring a variable, in particular a physical variable, includes at least one converter element converting the variable into an electrical signal. At least one electronic signal processing unit conditions and/or processes the electrical signal to provide a sensor signal. The at least one electronic signal processing unit has at least one diagnosis device. An interface passes on the sensor signal through a connection, in particular a cable connection, to an electrical device, in particular a control device. The diagnosis device causes a fault signal instead of the sensor signal to be present at the interface when a fault occurs, for clearly distinguishing a fault at the interface from a processing fault. A circuit having such a sensor and a method for operating the sensor and the circuit are also provided.
