  • Patent number: 4270282
Abstract: In a housing, a clothes dryer wherein dampness in washed clothes is expelled by warm air sweeping therethrough, the air being drawn in at least partly from the environment through openings formed in the housing and heated and, after absorbing the dampness, exhausted at least partly back into the environment, the air drawn in from the environment and exhausted to the environment being conducted through two channels of a heat exchanger with a solid-body regenerator alternatingly contacted in part by the drawn-in air and the exhausted air, the improvement therein including non-hygroscopic storage material received in the regenerator and absorbing thermal energy as loss-free as possible, storing the absorbed thermal energy as loss-free as possible and subsequently surrendering the thermal energy as loss-free as possible, the regenerator being air-permeable in axial direction thereof and being mounted in the drawn-in and exhausted air channels for rotation in a manner that every region of the regenerator is altern

  • Patent number: 4262585
Abstract: Electric coffee maker in which the water is transported from a fresh-water tank through a cold water line to a water heater, and from there through a hot-water line to a coffee filter. The coffee maker has incorporated a valve and a timer, called a time delay valve, which in conjunction with the heater and cold water line holds back or delays the full transport of water from the fresh-water tank and permits no flow of water or only a minimal amount of it to be transported for an initial period of time. This permits liquid ducts and receptacles downstream from the water heater to be preheated and thus smaller amounts of really hot coffee can be taken from coffee makers which are designed for larger quantities of coffee.

  • Patent number: 4242116
Abstract: A three-way magnetic valve as a switching device for refrigerators with two different temperature compartments operated with only one refrigeration machine, has an axial bore hole in a tubular housing with an inlet to the bore hole of the housing and an outlet at each end of the housing, a rod-like plunger with a sealing member at end, axially movable in the bore hole so as to seal one end and open the other end and vice versa, a coil of an electro-magnet mounted on the housing, an armature axially movable in the housing to engage and move, when energized, the plunger against the restoring force of a spring. A damping spring is also provided. The valve is simple in design, less expensive, smaller in dimensions, and is substantially trouble-free for long periods of time.

  • Patent number: 4241587
Abstract: Apparatus and method for storing material at and below a permissible upper temperature below the freezing point in a refrigeration chamber containing a heat exchanger and a thermostat to activate a refrigeration to supply coolant to the heat exchanger to maintain a set temperature. Periodically defrosting the heat exchanger by introducing heat, usually by an electric heating element in the refrigeration chamber, but prior to initiating defrosting, the thermostat is taken out of control of the refrigeration unit and the latter automatically activated to effect a drop in temperature in the chamber sufficient to prevent the stored material from exceeding it permissible upper temperature during subsequent defrosting.

  • Patent number: 4217763
Abstract: In an assembly of a work-performing machine having variable torque demand driven by an asynchronous motor, a phase-angle control device for varying the operating voltage of the asynchronous motor in accordance with the respectively required torque, the asynchronous motor being operable with substantially optimal efficiency, by means of said phase angle control device, with the operating voltage matched to the respectively required torque.

  • Patent number: 4215486
Abstract: Circuit for controlling the program timer of a laundry dryer as a function of the moisture-dependent resistance of the laundry. A storage capacitor charged from a d-c voltage source together with laundry resistance resulting from wet laundry bridging two electrodes and resistance determine the duty cycle or frequency for an oscillator. The output of the oscillator is fed to a filter and from there as one input to a comparator. A reference value setter is fed to another input of the comparator. The output of the comparator is functionally connected to the program timer. This circuit arrangement makes possible measurement of low residual moisture values in the laundry and thereby permits the start of the post-drying phase without heating on reaching this low residual moisture value.

  • Patent number: 4214148
Abstract: Calcification sufficient to cause material impairment of heat transfer is indicated in a water heater in an electric appliance, such as a coffee maker. The water heater has a first and a second temperature-dependent switch thermally coupled thereto. The first switch serves as a final interrupter or temperature control. The switching temperature of the second switch is below that of the first one in the range of temperatures which occur in the water heating operation if excessive calcification is present. A time delay member after a predetermined time actuates an indicating signal. The time delay member is in operation when only the second temperature-dependent switch is in responded condition. The time delay member ceases operation and returns to its original state when both temperature-dependent switches are in the responded state or the original condition.

  • Patent number: 4213031
Abstract: A welding device for welding together at least two superimposed foils of thermoplastic synthetic material includes an electrically heated temperature-controlled sealing roller and a counterpressure organ cooperating with roller to form a heated zone in which the foils are tightly welded while pressure is applied thereto. The sealing roller comprises a circular disk-like PTC (positive temperature coefficient) resistor which serves as the heating element and the temperature control, with the PTC resistor having a resistance characteristic which rises steeply in the range of the operating temperature of the sealing roller. The PTC resistor serving as the heating element comprises the effective part of the sealing roller which acts directly on the foils to be welded and has axially opposite electrically conductive end faces each provide with a disk-like metallic contact surface rotatable with the resistor and in electrical contact with the axial end faces.
