  • Patent number: 4413880
Abstract: A connector is provided for connecting unterminated optical fiber cables to test sets or the like. The connector has a cable adapter section and an optical fiber adapter section. The cable adapter section is partly slotted and has a cylindrical bore for receiving the cable. The outer dimensions of the cable adapter section cooperate with a sliding ring to form a clamp for holding the cable securely. The optical fiber adapter section has a cylindrical bore coaxially aligned with the bore of the cable adapter section and receives the unsheathed optical fiber and maintains it in precise optical alignment within the test set. Disposed between the cable adapter section and the fiber adapter section is a conical chamber for guiding the optical fiber to the bore of the fiber adapter section.

  • Patent number: 4281925
Abstract: A fiber optic line simulator simulates the attenuation in a fiber optic cable with repeatable accuracy by adjusting the air spacing between the ends of two foreshortened fiber optic cables adapted to be connected to a continuity meter or other device for measuring attenuation in a fiber optic cable of extensive length. The simulator may also simulate specific fiber optic lengths for use in evaluation of optical communication systems.

  • Patent number: 4186386
Abstract: A segmented housing for electrical instrumentation particularly panel mounted meters of the electro-optical readout variety. The housing is formed in first and second halves separating the housing into substantially similar upper and lower portions which are secured together and to a panel mounting bracket by recessed bolts on opposite sides. The brackets are located in side channels extending a substantial portion of the housing side length to provide a highly rigid and secure attachment. The housing halves are apertured in the rear to permit electrical connection through lugs to a circuit board within. The front halves are apertured and beveled for panel mounting with a molding surrounding the aperture through which an indicator scale is visible. One or more lens elements provides scale indication and/or scale magnification.
