  • Patent number: 10385284
Abstract: An aviation gasoline composition comprising an impure iso-octane fraction, at least one xylene and at least one C4 or C5 alkane, wherein the impure iso-octane fraction in said composition is a fraction comprising at least 90 mol % iso-octane and having a final boiling point of at least 180° C. and is present in the composition in an amount in the range of from 30 to 80 vol. % based on the composition, the composition is substantially free of any lead compounds, the composition has a motor octane number of at least 94 and the composition has a final boiling point of at most 170° C. The composition of the present invention may be made by blending together an impure iso-octane fraction, xylene, at least one C4 or C5 alkane, optionally ethyl tertiary butyl ether, and optionally methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl and may be used in a spark ignition aviation engine, either alone or in combination with methanol or a methanol and water mixture.

  • Publication number: 20120305262
Abstract: A device for relieving pressure in a subsea component comprises a housing including an inner cavity, an open end in fluid communication with the inner cavity, and a through bore extending from the inner cavity to an outer surface of the housing. In addition, the device comprises a connector coupled to the open end. The connector is configured to releasably engage a mating connector coupled to the subsea component. Further, the device comprises a burst disc assembly mounted to the housing within the through bore. The burst disc assembly is configured to rupture at a predetermined differential pressure between the inner cavity and the environment outside the housing.

  • Patent number: 6492299
Abstract: A process for the production of vinyl acetate which comprises contacting ethylene, acetic acid and an oxygen-containing gas with a supported palladium catalyst prepared by a process comprising the steps of (a) impregnating a catalyst support with a palladium compound, (b) converting the palladium compound to substantially metallic palladium and (c) sintering the supported palladium at a temperature of greater than 500° C.

  • Patent number: 5723713
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the converting ethylene to a mixture of 1-olefins by (a) feeding ethylene through an oligomerization catalyst bed to form an oligomer predominating in C2-C6 olefins and (b) feeding the oligomer, optionally admixed with fresh ethylene, containing at least 50% by volume ethylene, through a metathesis catalyst bed to form a product predominating in C2-C6 1-olefins. Steps (a) and (b) can be carried out sequentially and in a single reactor under the same conditions of reaction temperature and pressure. This mitigates the perceived disadvantages of low activity and low conversions of relatively inexpensive oligomerization catalysts and forms oligomer having the desired distribution of 1-olefin components for use as comonomer in a polyolefin process.

  • Patent number: 5716914
Abstract: Process for producing an additive concentrate having a viscosity of less than 1000 cSt at 100 EC, by reacting at elevated temperature and in the presence of an inorganic halide or calcium acetate catalyst (A) either (i) a hydrocarbyl phenol or (ii) a hydrocarbyl phenol and sulphur, (B) an alkaline earth metal base added in either a single addition or in a plurality of additions during the reaction, (C) either a polyhydric alcohol having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms, a di- or tri- C.sub.2 to C.sub.4 glycol, an alkylene glycol alkyl ether or a polyalkylene glycol alkyl ether, (D) a lubricating oil, (E) carbon dioxide added subsequent to the, or each, addition of compound (B), and (F) sufficient to provide from 12 to less than 40% by weight based on the weight of the concentrate of either (i) a carboxylic acid having the formula RCH(R')COOH, wherein R is a C.sub.10 to C.sub.24 alkyl or alkenyl group and R is either hydrogen, a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl group or a --CH.sub.
