Abstract: A computer implemented method for quantifying and predicting the progression of interstitial lung disease is disclosed herein. The method comprises obtaining at least one image based on a scan of at least a part of a patient's lung, segmenting the image to obtain a lung mask defining the periphery of the lung and to identify structures within the lung mask, and applying a weighting to the identified structures based on the relative position of the structures relative to the lung periphery to obtain a weighted score. The method may then comprise quantifying the extent of interstitial lung disease, and/or predicting the progression of interstitial lung disease, based on the weighted score.

  • Patent number: 10902596
Abstract: Data from a tomographic scan (14) that provides three-dimensional information about a patient's brain comprises the steps of: filtering and re-sampling (21) the data to produce a three-dimensional image; performing registration (23) to align the three-dimensional image with a reference image (16), using 3-D rigid and/or non-rigid transformations; identifying (25) image features in the aligned image, to identify which voxels or regions of adjacent voxels correspond to image features that represent structures within the brain that are expected to be evident; classifying (26) each voxel within an identified image feature by a voxel score that corresponds to the difference between the attenuation of that voxel and the expected attenuation at that region of the brain; and deducing a cumulative score that combines the voxel scores from all the voxels of at least a region of the brain.

  • Publication number: 20200394793
Abstract: A method of analysing data from an angiographic scan that provides three-dimensional information about blood vessels in a patient's brain, the method comprising the steps of: processing the data (26) to produce a three-dimensional image; extracting the system of blood vessels inside the skull, so as to obtain a vessel mask (28); skeletonising (30) the vessel mask with a thinning algorithm to produce a skeleton mask performing a central plane extraction; analysing (32) the skeleton mask to identify voxels that have more than two neighbours, indicating a fork, bifurcation or branch; detecting the most proximal location of each of the three main supplying arteries of the head in the skeleton mask to identify starting positions; and then starting from each starting position in turn, and walking along the line representing the corresponding blood vessel to detect (34) a plurality of anatomical markers within the network of blood vessels.
