  • Patent number: 5551335
Abstract: A citrus juicer having a base enclosing a driving electric motor arranged to drive a pair of upstanding spindles on top of each of which is a juicing cone, the juicing cones being arranged above a container for the collection of juice, characterised in that the container is attached to the base so as to be readily removable therefrom for cleaning, a lid arranged to extend over the juicing cones and the container hingedly removably attached to the container, the lid being shaped internally to apply pressure to a half-citrus fruit placed on top of each said juicing cone on closure of the lid, the lid being moulded from plastic in a single piece, the arrangement being such that half of a citrus fruit can be placed on top of each juicing cone and the lid hinged downwardly to press simultaneously the halve of the citrus fruit onto the juicing cones in order to cause juice to be extracted from them.

  • Patent number: 5528980
Abstract: The pop-up toaster has a toaster body provided with a slot for insertion of an article to be toasted, a toaster carriage for the article, electric toasting elements in an interior of the toaster body for toasting the article and a flame barrier device for preventing a flame produced by inadvertent combustion of the article from issuing from the slot while permitting escape of heated air from the slot. The flame barrier device can be made of wire gauze or expanded metal and is connectable to the toaster body for motion between a closed position closing the slot to prevent flame from issuing therefrom and at least one open position in which the article can be inserted into the interior through the slot. The flame barrier device can be connected to the toaster carriage so that it automatically closes when the article to be toasted is inserted in the toaster and automatically opens when the article has been toasted.

  • Patent number: 4872764
Abstract: A beverage processing apparatus consisting of an outer housing having an upper portion and a lower portion which together form a closed processing vessel for containing a beverage mixture, the upper portion containing a driving motor that drives the shaft which has on it one or more processing blades, the invention being characterized by the fact that the blade or blades are pivotally attached to the shaft so as to be capable of folding up against the shaft as it is introduced into a mixture to be processed containing, for example, ice cubes, and thereafter under the influence of centrifugal force to take up a position substantially at right angles to the shaft to effect efficient processing. It is preferred that the or each blade has a surface upwardly inclined in relation to a plane at right angles to the axis of the shaft to promote folding of the blade in the event of it striking an obstacle during processing.

  • Patent number: 4685479
Abstract: A device for heating hair curling rollers consisting of an attachment for a hair dryer of the small portable type which is frictionally attached to the barrel of the hair dryer so that heated air from the dryer passes through the attachment. The attachment is arranged to support a number of hair curling rollers of a conventional type and to direct air from the hair dryer into and around the rollers to heat them to a working temperature. The usual heat indicating spot provided on each roller may be applied to the exterior of the attachment. As an adjunct to the attachment an adaptor is provided to enable the attachment to be attached to hair dryers having barrels of different external diameters. A fan is preferably included in the attachment to assist in even distribution of heated air over the hair curling rollers.
