Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for facilitating a financial transaction between a payer device and a payee device is disclosed. A transaction request is generated in response to an authorisation request for initiating the financial transaction. Subsequently, one or more network access parameters associated with at least the payer device and the payee device are determined and a transaction mode is selected based thereon whereby one of the devices in a transactional network is designated to route the transaction request to a payment network. Finally, the transaction request is transmitted to the payment network through the designated device.
