  • Patent number: 10554515
Abstract: A customer premises network access device includes a housing and a network interface unit at least partially disposed therein, for communicating with a data network and providing access to the data network to a user. The customer premises network access device also includes a processing unit disposed in the housing and connected to the network interface unit. The processing unit is configured to determine an aggregate amount of data associated with the network interface unit over a predetermined time period, and to determine a data value based on the determined aggregate amount of data. An exterior-facing display viewable to the user from outside the housing receives the data value from the processing unit, and displays an indicium based on the display value to the user.

  • Patent number: 10051301
Abstract: Mechanisms for initiating a unicast video stream in response to a triggering event from a client node receiving a multicast video stream are disclosed. A distribution node communicatively coupled to a plurality of client nodes multicasts a first video stream of a program encoded in a first format to the plurality of client nodes. The distribution node detects a triggering event associated with a first client node of the plurality of client nodes that is receiving the first video stream. In response to the triggering event, a second video stream of the program encoded in a second format is unicasted.

  • Publication number: 20150332006
Abstract: Mechanisms for patient health monitoring are disclosed. A health server device receives a first message that originates from a media device associated with a patient. The first message indicates that the patient desires a service from the media device. A patient protocol of the patient is accessed, and a health data determination is made based on the patient protocol. An action is performed based on the health data determination.

  • Publication number: 20150332017
Abstract: Mechanisms for ensuring patient compliance with a prescribed patient protocol are disclosed. A media device receives a first request for a service. In response to receiving the first request, the media device sends a first message to a remote health server device. The media device receives, from the remote health server device, a second message containing presentation content that indicates that a patient associated the media device is non-compliant with a particular health measurement task. In response to the second message, the media device presents the presentation content to the patient.

  • Patent number: 9161377
Abstract: Integration of a mobile hotspot into a service provider network is disclosed. A network node establishes a first wireless communication link with a mobile hotspot device. The mobile hotspot device is configured to establish a second wireless communications link with at least one client device. The network node receives an access request message from the mobile hotspot device which comprises credentials provided by the at least one client device. The network node determines that the at least one client device is authorized to access the service provider network through the mobile hotspot device based on the credentials and indicates to the mobile hotspot device that the at least one client device is authorized to access the service provider network through the mobile hotspot device.

  • Patent number: 8811960
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer-readable media for providing caller identification information. A server receives a call notification that identifies a call originating from a calling address for connection to a destination address associated with a wireless destination device. The server makes the determination that the wireless destination device is within a predetermined proximity of a media station. Based on the determination, the server communicates a caller identifier to the media station for presentation on a display device communicatively coupled to the media station.
