Patents Assigned to Bristol Industries
  • Patent number: 6244807
Abstract: A double seal nut having a wrenching element to which a torquing force is applied, an internal bore running longitudinally through the wrenching element and having a set of screw threads to be mated to a correspondingly threaded bolt by which to hold together a pair of opposing metal workpieces, and a washer base having a bearing surface to be seated flush against the faying surface of a first of the pair of workpieces. The double seal nut includes a Teflon seal ring located within the internal bore to engage the threads of the bolt and thereby block the leakage of fluid in a longitudinal (i.e. axial) direction along the bolt.

  • Patent number: 5404921
Abstract: A system for charging compressed air cylinders with air for breathing incorporates a fragmentation containment chamber having walls of 1/4" minimum thickness steel plate and a carousel mounted in the front panel for transferring the cylinders into and out of the chamber. Specially configured locking plates are moved in and out of locking position for the carousel in accordance with the pressurizing operation. A rotary valve serves to insure that compressed air can only be transferred to the cylinders within the cylinder when they are in position for charging and not to the cylinders outside the chamber. A grating at the bottom of the chamber permits high pressure air to exit the chamber safely in case of any malfunction. Safety interlocks and automatic controls operate in accordance with rotation of the cylinders on the carousel results in the easy, rapid and safe charging of the breathing air cylinders.

  • Patent number: 5219255
Abstract: A nut assembly to be mechanically locked to a threaded bolt or pin of the type having an annular groove. The nut assembly comprises a threaded nut element to engage the bolt and a washer connected to the nut element. The washer has first and second coaxially aligned cylindrical walls extending therefrom. The first wall of the washer is deflected into contact with the nut element to prevent the disconnection of the nut element from the washer during handling prior to installation. In the as-packaged configuration of the nut assembly, the nut element is seated upon the second wall of and spaced from the washer. During installation, the nut element is drawn towards the washer to deflect the second wall radially into the annular groove of the bolt to mechanically lock the washer to the bolt and thereby prevent the inadvertent withdrawal of the bolt from the nut assembly due to vibration and similar mechanical forces.

  • Patent number: 4331416
Abstract: A transfer device of the opposed finger type is disclosed for transferring an article along an arcuate path of travel between two stations while rotating the article, so that transfer from one station to another is effected while simultaneously turning the article 180 degrees about an axis substantially normal to the path of travel. The transfer device has a subframe with a fixed reaction element mounted thereon and an elongated transfer arm mounted on the subframe in a manner which allows the transfer arm to rotate about its longitudinal axis as well as pivot with respect to the subframe. One end of the transfer arm has a rotating element which is engaged with the fixed reaction element which causes the transfer arm to rotate about its longitudinal axis as the transfer arm pivots.
