Patent number: 7540460Abstract: A mounting assembly for mounting a fixture such as a loudspeaker speaker in-wall or in-ceiling includes a bracket assembly to mechanically couple wall or ceiling and speaker to the supporting studs or joists on both sides of the hole in which the loudspeaker will be mounted. The bracket assembly may comprise two halves, each of which includes a bracket plate, a left bracket slider and a right bracket slider, and associated fasteners. Each half of the bracket is sized so that it will pass easily through the opening made in the partition for receiving the loudspeaker. Once inside the partition, the two bracket sliders expand to reach the nearby studs or joists where they are coupled to the studs or joists using fasteners such as screws. Once the bracket sliders are attached, they are secured to the bracket plate with fasteners such as thumbscrews, thereby making a rigid structure. This is repeated for the other half of the bracket assembly.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2006Date of Patent: June 2, 2009Assignee: Britannia Investment CorporationInventors: Scott Donald Orth, Steven Saint John Tourison, David Allen Fitzpatrick

Patent number: 7162049Abstract: A loudspeaker system includes a cabinet with an interior air volume, a transducer, a first port extending from an opening in the front wall of the cabinet to the interior of the cabinet, and a second port extending from and opening in the rear wall of the cabinet to the interior of the cabinet. The first and second ports are aligned along a common longitudinal axis and the interior ends of the ports are separated from each other by a predetermined distance. First and second flanges having a diameter larger than the first and second ports are disposed at the interior ends of the first and second ports, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2003Date of Patent: January 9, 2007Assignee: Britannia Investment CorporationInventor: Matthew S Polk, Jr.

Patent number: 7043034Abstract: A dual purpose loudspeaker incorporating at least two audio signal inputs and at least one switch is adapted to receive and reproduce either a single audio signal input or two audio signal inputs according to the position of the switch. A switch slide mechanically linked to the switch is provided which blocks one of the audio signal inputs when the switch is in the single-channel position, thereby preventing erroneous connection to the blocked audio signal input.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2003Date of Patent: May 9, 2006Assignee: Britannia Investment CorporationInventors: John B. Patent number: 6937737Abstract: A surround sound reproduction system uses a series of filters and a system of main and sub-speakers to produce phantom rear surround sound channels or a phantom surround sound effect from a loudspeaker system or pair of loudspeaker systems located in front of the listener. The sound system includes left and right surround input signals, and left and right front input signals. Left and right sub-speakers, and left and right main speakers are located in front of a listening location. Spacing between respective main and sub-speakers is approximately equal to ear spacing for an average person. The input to the left sub-speaker comprises the right surround signal subtracted from the left surround signal each signal having previously passed through a front-to-back filter and a series of high and low pass filters. The input into the left main speaker comprises the left front signal added to the left surround signal after the left surround signal has passed through a front-to-back filter.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2003Date of Patent: August 30, 2005Assignee: Britannia Investment CorporationInventor: Matthew S. Patent number: 5809154Abstract: A vent loudspeaker system is provided which has at least one active driver and a port opening in a speaker cabinet. Disks or baffle plates are mounted a predetermined distance to and concentric to the port opening, resulting in a vented system achieving an equivalent performance as would result from a flared, ducted port, but with several performance advantages and simpler construction.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1995Date of Patent: September 15, 1998Assignee: Britannia Investment CorporationInventor: Matthew S. Patent number: 5730409Abstract: A bracket integral to an audio speaker provides simple mounting of the speaker on a wall at various angles by rotation of the bracket and the speaker with respect to each other. A biasing element and serrated sections on the bracket and the speaker allow the speaker to be rotated to different angles and lock the speaker in place, preventing it from moving over time. The bracket also serves as a flexible stand for the audio speaker when the speaker is placed on a horizontal surface. The concentric design at the point of rotation of the bracket causes the speaker to be directed upward, downward, to the right, or to the left. Keyhole slots in the bracket allow for simple hanging on a wall.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1996Date of Patent: March 24, 1998Assignee: Britannia Investment CorporationInventors: Allen S.
