Patents Assigned to Britax Geco S.A.
  • Patent number: 6616288
Abstract: A rear view mirror for a vehicle has a reflective member mounted for angular movement about a pivot axis perpendicular to a plane containing both a first line and a second line. The first line bisects the angle between an incident ray and a reflection of said incident ray extending to a first end of the major axis of a vertical section through the eyellipse, and the second line bisects the angle between said incident ray and a reflection of said incident ray extending to a second end of said major axis.

  • Patent number: 5828504
Abstract: An exterior rearview mirror for a vehicle comprises a base member (10) adapted to be secured to a vehicle body, and a mirror head (56, 78, 82) mounted on the base member (10) for angular movement about a substantially vertical axis between a position of normal use and a position folded alongside the motor vehicle body. A detent (102) is adapted to hold the mirror head (56, 78, 82) in its normal position, an electric motor (142). A cam powered by the electric motor (142) is arranged to cause movement of the detent (102) out of engagement during an initial phase of movement and to cause angular movement of the mirror head (56, 78, 82) away from its normal position during a subsequent phase of movement.

  • Patent number: 5166832
Abstract: An exterior view mirror for a motor vehicle has a mirror housing secured to a cylindrical boss which is pivotally mounted on a base. A clutch, which secures the housing at a predetermined orientation relative to the base, comprises a first member carrying a detent formation, a second member journalled on the first member so as to be axially movable relative thereto to bring the detent formation into engagement with a complementary formation on the second member, and a spring for causing relative axial movement between the first member and the second member to bring the detent formation into engagement with the complementary formation. The clutch can be released by heating a shape memory alloy wire which is arranged to oppose the spring so as to cause disengagement of the detent formation from the complementary formation.

  • Patent number: 4932766
Abstract: An exterior mirror for a motor vehicle has a base member adapted to be mounted on a vehicle body, a housing containing a reflective member and having an end face to confront the base member with a peripheral edge serving as an abutment edge which engages the base member for relative pivotal movement. A link is pivotally connected at one end to the base member and a tension spring is connected between the link and an attachment point in the interior of the housing to urge the abutment edge on the housing into abutment with the base member. The end of the link opposite to the end connected to the base member is pivotally connected to the housing and the spring is connected to an intermediate point on the link. The base member and housing are shaped to conceal the abutment edge of the housing when said peripheral edge is in engagement with the base member around its entire periphery.

  • Patent number: 4918920
Abstract: The device comprises a manipulator (148) whose body (149) houses deformable positioning transmitter bags (145 to 147) each connected by a corresponding hydraulic circuit to a positioning receiver comprising a deformable bag (130 to 132, 133 to 135), whose increases in volume in response to the compression exerted by the user on at least one of the positioning transmitter bags (145 to 147 control a change of the positioning of at least one controlled member. The device may contain a connector connecting the transmitter bags to the receiver bags, and also path switching hydraulic circuits permitting the selective control of one of two different members by a single manipulator. Application in particular to the control of external rear view mirrors on vehicles.

  • Patent number: 4245893
Abstract: The invention relates to an external rear view mirror with control from the inside of a vehicle. The external rear view mirror has a mirror-box assembly orientable from the inside of a vehicle, by electrical control, in two directions at right angles, forwards-backwards and up-down. It includes, housed inside said box, two parallel drive shafts each controlling one of the two orientations and drive means capable of driving the two abovesaid shafts. The means for controlling the orientation of the mirror-box assembly are interposed between the two shafts and the end of an arm for fixing the rear view mirror of which the other end is made firmly fast to the outer wall of the vehicle.
